Zombies

By guest17211, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I have some really cool looking zombie miniature that I really think would work well in Imperial Assault. I enjoyed reading the Death Trooper novel and would like some help with coming up with stats for them.

Thanks

How many zombies are you talking?

It'd probably work great as a mini-campaign format. But I'm curious what you're working with.

As far as stats go, it would be easiest to just take an existing character use that. Tusken Raiders, Wampas, royal guards, riot troopers and Wookie warriors are a good candidates that already have melee attacks (because it seems silly to have laser blaster wielding zombies). It really depends on how difficult you want your zombies to be.

Riot trooper stats and abilities seem to be a natural fit. Rename "Stun Batons" to "T-virus" and rename "shield" to "Rigor Mortis Skin", done!
If you want something more difficult, use Royal Guards. Rename "Protector" to "Expendable Limbs" and rename "Vengeance" to "Power from the Undead", done!

Otherwise, I'm not creative enough to come up with something original.

How are you hoping to implement zombies? And where did your zombies come from? I just realized that I've got HeroQuest minis that could work in a similar fashion.

Are you familiar with Axis and Allies and Zombies? Basically, when troops are destroyed, they are replaced with zombies that need to be killed. That would be a really fun mission or skirmish mechanic.

Hi Thestag I am basing the zombies or undead on the blackwing virus. They start out as your slow moving undead but because of the way the virus acts they soon learn how to use weapons and how to avoid taking damage. The novel take base on a star destroyer so the infected would be normal crew like storm trooper , officer, scientist and engineers.

If you want to get SUPER technical, use this
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1379638/formula-calculating-threat-deployment-costs-figure

For the most part he cracked the core for base game costing. you can take that into consideration when going off @thestag suggestion of basing the zombies on tuskens and riot troopers.

If you have that many figures, make a couple different types based on the common tropes
- shambling walkers (slow, on move per turn, stun on attack)
- runners (melee with pounce)
- fatties (self destruct)
- tanks (bruisers)

What you could also do is create an "undead" condition card (or 2 variants of the condition if you're going to go full arc of the "dead troopers" arc). That way you can apply it troopers and have them be the more advanced.
off hand .... -1 move, only 1 move per turn, -1 evade, buuut ... they get undying, which means roll a green die when they would be defeated, recover 1 dmg on a surge.

Creating an imperial Class Deck revolving around zombies would also be highly appropriate. Stuff like
- Exhaust this card when a small figure is defeated. Deploy a shambling walker in their spot.
- Attachment: biohazard suits, anti-conditions
- Experimentations: Exhaust to infect non-zombie units with the undead condition
- etc

Any rate, keep us posted!

I have a real bad case of flu and my head feel like it might burst. I like the ideas so far so l will re-read them all over and I see what I can add. And if you have anything more please feel free to add

Thanks
