Happy friday

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

So with the weekend here and lots of excitement what are you playing these days pilot wise and what do you still want to try out?

Latest experiments were

Rebels: Sabine Attack shuttle w/ Leia and Debris Gambit, Bwings Braylen and Ten Numb (Ten has elusive), AP-5 and a tala squad to round it out. Hilarious Rube Goldberg like shenanigans afoot.

Also, I have a republic list I like: 4x gold squad, Sinker, and Luminara (no config).

Up next? I want to try some nonsense with Leebo. I have a goal to work through every single model I have (almost got them all in since 2.0 started!) so everything is used, even if done in a janky manner. I haven’t touched the YT2400 since 2.0.... Dash seems out, maybe Leebo and friends can do something?

i also am working through how I want to get the old party bus back.

Latest experiment was Genesis Red, Serisu, Quinn Jast & Torkil Mux... All I can say is that Scyks really need Autoblaster Cannon already, and I'm glad that the new rules change helps that one Mining TIE work with Quinn Jast.

Most recently ran a Juke HLC Onyx and 2 Thrawned Pred Sabers against a Scum Han/Koshka/Seevor list. 9 reds base isn't much, but dang if it didn't feel like a heavy cavalry charge (Seevor disintegrated first engagement to concentrated fire + Console Fire crit). Derped up and forgot my opponent had rigged on his bigger ships. :( Also ran Quad Pred Assassins against the same list that night. Halfed Khoshka and K boxed Seevor for a total loss of 3 hp on my ships over 3 engagements. Man Starvipers can dance beautifully. Looking to try this: It's 200 flat, but looks like it could be a nice grinder list. :)

Trandoshan Slaver — YV-666 Light Freighter 56
Lando Calrissian 8
Unkar Plutt 2

I’ve yet to give the Fang Fighters a fair chance. Whether it’s Fenn Rau with other Aces or two generics, I’ve just been reluctant to put anything without shields on the table. But I’m thinking of giving them a go soon.

Have playing the same trip I4 Jedi list unchanged since April 20th and still enjoying it. Great little ships, everything I hoped they'd be.

Taking a break from list building and just playing the game with a fun/good list has been pretty relaxing, a needed break before the storm to come with wave 4 and points.

I did finally put together an alt/fun list just to have something different. Guri/Outmaneuver/Afterburners/AS and 2 Black Sun Enforcers w/ AS. Fragile but fun to fly, didn't realize how much I missed flying Guri.

Guys I'm so hyped over this list I'm probably get annoying about it but seriously!

Beef Jerky:

Saw Gerrera, Juke, Jyn, PerCop, Pivot Wing

Wulf, Juke, Leia, PerCop, Hull

Kullbee, Juke, R4, S-Foils

196 points.

It tanks like a BOSS and as soon as a ship starts taking damage it just flips out and goes full-on MONSTER, especially Wulf. It's best against I1-I4, but I've even beat 300 points of I5-6 in FlyCasual (Talonbane, Fenn, Teroch, Boba, all with Fearless, 2 ships still standing). Then I turned around and defeated 6 B-Wings with it too. And I definitely wouldn't consider myself a very good player.

Double-mods plus defense mitigation plus token stack for defense on 8-9 health. Add in Wulff's extra die and a full 180 arc and it's better than Ghost levels of damage output. Kullbee is a 1e PTL ace against anything I4 or lower or else just a pocket ace and token stripper for your heavy hitters, and comes in really cheap at 55 points. Best thing is even Kullbee can just evade in the endgame and get passive rerolls from Saw on offense, Juke the enemy, then spend the evade on defense. All that's necessary is nuking anything I5+ off the board before it gets there (easier said than done but Wulff can do it and it's worth trading him for it).

I had the idea when 2e points first came out at Wave I, but I didn't give it any serious thought or practice until recently.

Finally put Ketsu on the table last time. She's such a bully. Throwing a U-Wing onto a rock before it can take a Range 1 attack is an amazing feeling.

The specific list was Ketsu (Fearless, Maul, Shadowcaster), plus Talonbane Cobra (Crack Shot, Hull Upgrade, Shield Upgrade) and Serrisu (Crack Shot, Ion Cannon). Serrisu's reroll was pretty sweet, actually. Ketsu managed to take only a single damage on the opening volley of attacks, in part because of that. The Old Para version with Old Terroch is almost surely a better list, but this is also fun.

//

I've also got two things I'm keen to try out. One is a bit more use of Silencers. I want to give a 3x Fanatical/Optics list a try. Also, I've got a Ani/Mace/Obi list with CLT on all three Jedi. I know CLT isn't that great overall, but still want to give it another test. I flew a CLT Obi with 2 ARC/2 Torrent in my first Republic games and didn't hate it, but one game was against Maul, and CLT Obi is going to be pretty brutal when moving after large-base ships, so I want a cleaner test. 3x CLT Jedi is more of a learning-list, rather than "I think this is very good."

Something a friend of mine did with Guri was to run Black Sun Enforcers with only Afterburners. That's actually wicked sweet. They can fly over rocks or Gas Clouds and still Boost -> Focus, or do some really potent Boost/Barrel Roll moves, or just Boost/Focus without stress, to keep those lovely 1-hards open for next round. Not saying Advanced Sensors is bad, but I really feel generic SVs need Focus, so I don't know that I'm getting the full value out of it, and Afterburners seemed really cool that one game my friend used them.

Yeah, maybe afterburners is better, could also fit FCS in. But I really like the maneuving options of advanced sensors plus bendy barrel roll, and the list if more about being fun to fly than good.

Have you tried trip I4 Jedi? Mace/Lum/Sae all with R2/7B with Sense on Mace. It's pretty solid, Sense goes a long way to make up for the lower Initiative.

I would love to try out my new N-1...

POINTS FFG!!!! POINTS!!!!!

Time to test fly republic this weekend!

Oh and I still want to put Miranda on the table soon, but I’m curious to see if anything happens with her, adv. slam, or hotshot gunner with the points at the end of the month.

Palp Aces:

Rexler Brath (82)
Juke (5)

“Whisper” (54)
Juke (5)

Omicron Group Pilot (43)
Emperor Palpatine (11)
Total: 200

I fell in love with the Defender. Further points decrease would be nice, since Phantoms and Juke might get an increase.

And I finally found a nice list with my beloved Deci:

“Whisper” (54)
Juke (5)
Collision Detector (6)
Fifth Brother (9)
Stealth Device (6)

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (80)
Lone Wolf (5)
Darth Vader (14)
Minister Tua (7)
Hotshot Gunner (7)
Proton Bombs (5)
Hull Upgrade (2)
Total: 200

I was trying out Scyks last week, went 2-0 (casual night, admittedly) including knocking off Vader. I'm not sure they actually "need" any cannons, but they are feeling slightly overpriced. 4 Cartel Spacers, Drea and Torkil Mux (and oddly a four point bid because I couldn't think of what to add to the list) and it was like cracking a secret code.

  • 2 dice attacks are enough if you can double mod them.
  • Mux is a jerk as much as Palob, I had dismissed him as janky garbage
  • Love those Scyk dials, they are such zippy little fighters.

Does this count as a Syck list or is it just Scum Trench run?

Why not both? Definitely Scum Trench Run, but any list with a Scyk counts as a "Scyk List" due to the rarity of seeing them in use.

And... 'scuse me, I think I need to try this out... Does it fly in formation or individually? It looks like it may do either pretty ok...

I love the Republic and been almost exclusively running them since release but bad luck, bad decisions on my part, and great flying by my opponents has made it ... frustrating. Next week might see a return to a recently tweaked take on the triple X-Wing of old to hopefully bring a bit of joy back. I've had a very strong urge to fly Luke with brilliant evasion and stealth device.

Happy Friday @Cubanboy ! Happy Friday all of you, my forum friends!

I got tired of losing with whatever combination of Scum I'd been trying, and decided to get in on losing with Vulture droids. Woof. Have now tried a few combinations of dotted droids and Grievous, i3's and Wat, and a mix of munitions and initiatives and Wat. I wanted to wait until the Hyena's made their debut to go all in, but, well, that didn't happen. So only bought one SoS and two Vultures, and I've been flying everybody stupid-fat. Afterburners on Vultures is...not the worst? But anything other than ESC for a missile is the worst, definitely. (And please don't ask me why I won't pick up an Infiltrator - I *know* they're the best thing the faction has to offer, but I just don't want them. Somehow. Maybe I like losing?)

And I've actually been enjoying the Vultures, even while consistently losing. They are an interesting puzzle and challenge to fly, and I am extremely hopeful for what a pair of Hyenas might add.

It's my last HST of season 1, and with the prizes being changed up for season 2, it's tryhard time. Despite priding myself on winning dice with one of my experiments and persisting in disappointing myself by only breaking even with another set of experiments, my desperation for templates shall turn me into that which I have held much disgust for: a netlister. Even worse, netlisting on a bandwagon because the archetype I plan on playing with just won an HST last weekend. Well, here's to season 2, and all the further fun experiments to be had then!

Happy Friday!

After preparing for the Atlanta System Open, I’ve been drifting back to some jankier lists. Guri has been a focus, just having fun with her crazy maneuverability. Teaming her up with a Hating Asajj has been fun.

Also getting to know the Republic better. Didn’t play that much with them before falling into a Resistance phase, so I’m going back to the Pubs for some quality time.

Still some random lists from some of the other factions I want to play with, like some fun with Jan Ors and the two named B-Wings.

Definitely looking forward to see how the N-1 and Resistance Transport can be rolled into my machinations. Also very interested in seeing how the next points change shake things up.

Still loving Vynder Vader and Vermeil and dabbling with Obi Ahsoka Wolffe. Been messing around with Vader and 3-Force RAC.

I will be trying some Republic "beef" this weekend:

- Mace Windu (Delta-7B)
- Wolffe (Clone Commander Cody)
- 104th Battalion Pilot
- 104th Battalion Pilot

200 points

Not as efficient as the (very) common Rebel beef, but it's very simple and should be fun.

Decided to try out a Tie Aggressor last night and had a blast!

Lt. Kestal w/ Ion turret and Hotshot Gunner, Lt. Sai w/ title and Seventh Sister, and Vessery w/ Juke and FCS to round out the list. It's not tournament worthy, but still fun jank to fly. Having Kestal shoot and deny the ability to use a focus token, and then strip the token off you only to be followed up by Vessery with Juke was just mean. Sai was just there to coordinate everyone and make sure combos got off.

Not in that exact configuration. The triple I4 I built (and didn't actually play it myself, but loaded to a friend who didn't have the new wave stuff, so I flew against it) was the same pilots with R2 Lum, R4-P17 Mace, and R4 Sae; no force talents but SynCon on each. I was kind of surprised by how effective SynCon was, handing around Locks.

Anyhow, with Jedi, I got into Anakin/Jag/Sinker (also SynCon) for a while, but decided I wasn't happy with how much MOV I kept losing with it. I've mostly been in other factions recently.

Luminarca (3 arcs)

(44) Luminara Unduli [Delta-7 Aethersprite]
(4) R2 Astromech
(16) Delta-7B

(1) Crack Shot
Points: 52

(42) 104th Battalion Pilot [ARC-170 Starfighter]
Points: 42

Total points: 200

Or hp Mace with 3 104ths (one has Cody)

All in all, an ARCing good time
