So did Wave 4 release is some areas of world, but not others?

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing

I remember buying an N64 back when they released, but the store messed up the order and had run out of games for it, so it just sat on my shelf for several weeks until my copy of Goldeneye arrived.

Can confirm it felt rough...

Technically they got it on time, since 6th June was the release date originally mentioned in one of the preview articles... but which has since been edited out! :o

It’s just that everywhere else has had the release date delayed...

Insert Gandalf.meme here.

...anyway, back on topic.

So what does everyone think of the Tariffs then? Don't hold back!

Wow! Goldeneye, The shooter which started it all :) What a great game.

Hope they release points seeing as some players now own wave 4 content

The rules ref was just updated with things like Fuse tokens & electro-proton bombs, so there is hope...

🤨 **** you're making me feel old by the ignorance of that claim. There were plenty of FPSs preceding it before consoles even sniffed at the genre. The oldest by nearly a decade. Goldeneye didn't start ****. I will give you that it refined the genre a fair bit, even with its craptastic controls.

Hands up if you remember playing Operation WOLF...

It was the only reason I bought a console. So for me it started it all. I was at a friends house for a party and it was the first time I had seen it.

Meffo can be trusted in this. Not sure how they got the link but it isn't the first time different regions had their site portal update lag behind other areas.

Literally dealing with back problems so much I decided to stop playing 4x gunboats because it required me to reach across the board too much.

Old: not even once.

Or it could be the number of creatures living there that can kill you by biting, stinging... or just looking at you! :o

...nope!

While we're treading the waters of videogaming infamy, Double Dragon and Kung Fu Master. Classics.

As a wise poet of an author once said: "Give me a list of the dangerous creatures on the continent of FourEcks!"

Isn't it still entirely useless since the points haven't been released yet? What's the rush if nobody can play it for a few days/weeks yet anyway?

Not everyone only plays standard 200/3 deathmatch games. Custom scenarios and thematic play exists. I suppose some people might even play with quickbuilds.

First FPS? Wasn't it either Castle Wolfenstein or Doom circa 1993-ish?

You’re thinking of Wolfenstein 3D, which was 1992.

It’s widely credited as the first FPS, as it was the first to become a major success, but I believe there are other examples dating as far back as the early ‘70’s...

There is even older than those.

Yeah, Wolfenstein just hit at the right time in that period of gaming so it had massive popularity. Doom was important as much for it's coding as it's gameplay; there's some fantastic innovation in that game which is overlooked today.

I'm not suggesting everyone plays tournament format games, but without the points and upgrade details, it's awfully hard to see anyone doing much with them, even in custom or thematic play. Quickbuilds, sure, but beyond that, it's pure guesswork.
