Does the new format for decklists bother anyone else?

By KandyKidZero, in KeyForge

With CotA, the order of the decklists was:

Action
Artifact
Creature
Upgrade

This was useful in telling if a house was primarily action-focused or creature heavy at a glance.

Now with AoA the order seems to be:

  • Legacy
  • Common Alpha-Numeric
  • Uncommon Alpha-Numeric
  • Rare Alpha-Numeric
  • Maverick

This makes it a little easier to see how many rares are in a deck, but for doing quick counts, that is basically out the window. Take something like Oath of Poverty, now instead of looking to where the first alphabetical break is to see what Artifacts I have, I need to look at each card. For most people this won't matter, but it is annoying when you find a shortcut to something and then it is radically altered.

Corrected Card List Order - Still not Great

I hate the new format. I want to be able to see how many creatures, etc just by looking.

Actually it was my understanding at first glance that there wasn't any subsorting in the rarities but pure alphabetical. I could be mistake though.

It gets even weirder if you have a legacy card because I think it maintains its own number so it can appear anywhere. (got 2 legacy decks over the weekend, traded 1 away)

I do, also, dislike it. The old method was nice because if you were looking at a decklist, even if you spotted a card you had never seen before, you could make an educated guess on what it would be.

Customs office is near the end in one of my Shadows decks, so looks like rarity order, but alphabetical within rarity.

It’s slightly harder to see card type counts this way. The CoA way worked better for me, but it’s not like it’s horrible, just a little harder.

Looks to me like they are listed based on the card number.

I bothers me tremendously. Of course, the original was alphanumeric by Action->Artifact->Creature->Upgrade (which is itself alphanumeric sorted), but no exceptions were made for articles (a, an, the) which somehow also annoys me.

The new system is:

  • Alphanumeric Houses
    • Common Alphanumeric
    • Uncommon Alphanumeric
    • Rare Alphanumeric

With Mavericks & Legacies being added wherever their card number adds them.

Yep. Hugely disappointed in this change. No idea why they would do it and I have not met anyone who likes it. They did this in Star Wars: Destiny with the dice cards, when they were once all together they mixed them into the set, so organizing them became a much bigger pain.

Perhaps if enough people email them with the complaint it will change back.

@Duciris They are alphabetical in each rarity, but the rarities are still broken down by Action, Artifact, etc. so your uncommon Actions are going to come after your common Upgrades (if you have any) and the same for Rares. I haven't looked at the numbers on my Legacy, but my Maverick Brobnar "Challe the Safeguard" is #216 and comes at the end of my Brobnar and before the #213 "Aubade the Grim". I would need more data points to go off of, but that is what I used to put Maverick at the end of the list.

I beg to differ. Looking at my deck right here it has:

carpet phloxem, collector worm, mars needs aember, mindworm, mothergun, xanthyx harvester...

so action, creature, action, creature, artifact, creature. All alphabetical within the common cards though.

Now that I pulled up the set on compendium, I do see that now it is Rarity Alpha, which is even worse kind of...
