Why Republic swarm is not a thing yet?

By Redblock, in X-Wing Squad Lists

New republic swarm:

5 x jedi knight with CLT. Try it.

2x knights with battle meditation + 4 x blue squadrons is the new swarm. Having all list at same skill is one of best things.

I noticed that's a thing now Calibrated Laser Targeting's so cheap.

Equally, 4 such individuals with Battle Meditation could be ridiculous, since you can 'chain' meditation co-ordinates, letting you concentrate actions wherever you need them.

As an example:

ABCD

  • A Co-ordinates, targeting B and C
    • B Co-ordinates, targeting A and D
      • A and D Focus
    • C Co-ordinates, targeting A and D
      • A and D Lock
  • B Focuses
  • C Focuses
  • D Co-ordinates, targeting B and C
    • B and C Lock

everyone ends up with Focus and Target Lock.

Isn't that just taking a TL + having force with extra steps though?

EDIT: Yeah, with CLT specifically focus + TL is much better than TL + force, as get one guaranteed focus result with CLT, so you need a focus to modify anything you roll on your 2 regular dice.

I mean, of course, it has more flexibility, but you're still paying 6 points per Jedi Knight for that.

No. Because that's one thing you can use the option for.

You could also use bonus actions to stack one Delta with Focus/Lock/Evade (if it's going 'head on' at an opponent), or to give two ships focus/lock/double reposition.
