Official packaging - did I get a repack?

By Axle_the_Red, in KeyForge

Hi everyone!

I found a good deal on an age of ascension box on amazon:

Fantasy Flight Games KeyForge: Age of Ascension Deck Display (12) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RJTN884/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tWY9CbBK1Z76A

90 isn't a bad price at all! I got the package today, and now I'm not sure I got a factory sealed box. The biggest clue for this was the packaging on the deck I opened. It's missing the red line easy open strip, and it is somewhat loose.

Possible keyforge repack :( https://imgur.com/gallery/2wGkdL0

Is this an actual confirmation of a repack, or does FFG pack in different ways in different regions? If it is a repack, do I have any recourse, or am I just boned?

Thanks everyone!

Not sure if you got a repack or not. However, amazon has a great return policy. If you find out it is a repack just file a return with amazon and say it’s inaccurate website description or that the product was damaged. I know deals can be hard to pass, but with these things sometimes it’s better to just buy directly from reputable card shops of FFG directly.

Simple test - scan the deck into your app. If you don't get the aember-shard there is your answer. Contact Amazon and tell them the product you paid for was new and the product you received was used.

Failing that, contact FFG Customer Service and maybe they'll get you the aember-shards and be able to remove them from whoever swindled you - if that's what happened.

I was able to register the deck with no issue. I did speak with a friend who said he had seen people talking about two different packagings: the Chinese printing is the one I have (loose plastic wrap minus the red stripe), and a German printing which has the red stripe. I haven't looked for this online, so take that with a grain of salt. But I thought someone here might know, and if it was a repack, everyone should know. :) I was able to register the deck with no issue. I bought a starter set and two individual decks. Two of the decks had the red strip and the other two were more loosely wrapped. I can't remember which was which, but they all seemed ok.

My starter had the old boxes that opened from the bottom easy and had the red strip. My display case and consecutive single deck purchases from Fantasy Flight Game Center have all been the new box and the "loose packaging" you described, although it takes me forever to open these new ones >_<.

There are indeed two different packages and it was discussed on the FFG youtube channel. I dislike the new ones as they are very easy to open, look at the deck, then reseal.

I will not be buying any from stores that keep them on the shelf like Barnes and Noble.

My starter box decks had the red stripe. The 12 from my booster box had no stripe. It makes it easy on eBay to see which decks are from boosters and which are from starters. It's obviously easier to see the decklist without the red line.

I'm pretty sure the boxes were different too, oddly having the ones that are in the starters are harder to open (if my memory serves).

There are both in both formats actually. Just depends when and where they were 'packed' it seems.

Can confirm that decks I got from a display case all had the red line, so they’re not just in starters.

Right, that is what I'm saying as well. I've gotten both in both formats. It depends on where they are coming from it seems. There was talk China was different than the other location (wherever that is)

Weird. Very weird.
