Sensor Teams and MC-75 Ordnance Cruiser?

By Garrett17, in Star Wars: Armada

Sensor team to throw away the other blue from the forward arc (net loss of 1 damage)

3 blacks

+1 for CF

+2 for external racks

plus ACM and hopefully a CF token lying around

15 max damage and no brace to ruin your day (barring ECM)

(plus double arc if you've got it)

Too expensive?

Not necessarily too expensive, but too reliant on rolling half-decent with the Black Dice, since you have no way of fixing it other than, maybe, a single solitary concentrate fire token.

Since 0 Damage is almost as likely as Max Damage.

Given that your two most common choices for fixing fill that Sensor Team Slot (The Fish Twins or OE)

Maybe the Armored Cruiser. It’s got rerolls, a high chance of an accuracy on one arc so the exhaust is less important, and no auto-include weapon team.

I’d still rather have Boarding Troopers though, and that’s the problem with Sensor Team: even with dice control and enough damage to lose a die, it’s almost always just not worth the slot. Too bad it’s not a turbolaser.

Sensor Team wants large red/black dice pools. You need enough dice where you can hit a specific damage threshold reliably (usually 6, but possibly as high as 10), lock a key token, and then kill a ship. So the arc that it is really good on is the side. But you can also kill those small/medium ships on a double arc, and against a large ship that likely carries ECM, you'd rather just do damage and overload the tokens by two consecutive big attacks.

Absolutely

Add Sato for a replacement 2 blacks and then all you need is OE.

This is why we have Home One. Then you've got room for OEs on the MC75, which covers the black dice, the blue dice are going to be useful anyway, and the red dice from the side aren't as swingy when you can always flip one to an accuracy.
