Idea for FFG

By Guest, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

There will probably be no more big box expansions (the chance of more is slim to none). That means we will never get more ancient ones and investigators. I have an idea: An investigator sheet-sized box containing:

*8 Investigator sheets

*4 Ancient One sheets

*16 Personal Story cards

*12 Sinister Plot Cards

*8 Investigator markers

*Possibly some extras: new items (for fixed possessions), monster markers (spawns), special counters/markers (for some ancient ones), etc.

I think it will be an incredible value for the price of small-box expansion.

Like/don't like?

Discuss.

hey, i was thinking the same thing. after getting all the expansions, it starts to get boring and we have to FEED our lust for Arkham Horror by: getting expansions.

Maybe not another board, or you'll be forced to use the floor rather than the table (and if you have a messy floor... too bad). So, yes, i think this would be a great idea if FFG would fulfill this wish!

I'd be down with that. Or perhaps it would come with a board: the three expansions condensed to 1/2 or 1/3 the size!

Then again, including such things in a small-box expansion (that has other thematic crap in it) would always be welcome.

Oh, also no harm would come if these packages include a herald/guardian or two :) (although those can fit into regular small box expansions)

btw do you think we will ever get a guardian-based small box expansion? all our current small expansions are herlad-based. would be nice to have a guradian-based one.

Didn't you just say the relationship cards reek like guardians due to adding more help to the player? And now you want more guardians?

There's nothing wrong with guardians. In fact, my favorite one is Bast even though he barely affect the game, Wilson is the only one that can utilize it and I NEVER had a story continue drawn playing with him. i jast liek katz

Trish Scarborough gives kroen the evil eye for overlooking her.

Can't believe I overlooked her. Now I like Bast even moar.

I think it is a great idea. We need more ancient ones IMO.

According to this, there are still 45 Great Old Ones that don't appear in the game.

This always kind of bothered me... Dagon and Hydra are listed as Great Old Ones there, so why are they heralds? Anyone knows?

The idea sounds pretty nice, I think I'd buy it, but since I don't have all of the other expansions, I'm not that keen on any more Great Old Ones yet...

Hmm, because they are GOOs that are helping other GOOs awaken?

Hm, possibly. I have to admit I don't have that much knowledge about all of that Mythos-stuff, I just read some of the short stories (I own two collections that partially overlap and the Charles Dexter Ward novel), watched a few movies (like the really nice "Dagon") and played "Dark Corners of the Earth". All of those gave me the impression that Dagon would be something... "more", but I don't know whether this corelates with the Mythos or not. Thanks for clarifying anyway gui%C3%B1o.gif

im not interested in more guardians, but more heralds, ancient ones, and monsters. also a new concept to the game would be nice, too.happy.gif

Part of the disconnect there is the use of the term Great Old One. It means something different on that list than it does in the game. The Great Old Ones in the Mythos was a sort of race of supernatural creatures and separate from other sorts like the Outer Gods (Notice that Azathoth, Yog-Sothoth and others aren't on that list). In the game it more or less represents a monster of great power or at least applying great power in a certain way.

Has FFG made some kind of statement about this that I missed? I know Innsmouth was the one we were all waiting for and I do hear it was the last one they had planned when the game launched, but I'm sure FFG could find a way to make more Big Box expansions if they really wanted to. There's plenty of Mythos out there to go around.

As far as the idea you suggest, it sounds fine to me. =)

I also agree with the others that "GOO" in the Mythos and "GOO" in the board game have different meanings. There were no "Heralds" in the Mythos stories that I'm aware of (not with a capital H anyway) so whether a GOO from the Mythos ends up as a "GOO" or a "Herald" is kind of up for grabs.

in my opinion, i don't care if they make more big box expansions, cause i have spacehappy.gif. if u were wonderin where, i play it in my parents room, where everything is very spacious. they get real crazy when i start to set it up though.
