Spare Parts Canister on Rebel ships

By BCooper85, in X-Wing

Hi guys,

Just looking for decent suggestions on where spare parts would fit well on Rebel ships?

Thanks!

I'm not entirely certain it fits well at all currently.

The canister works well on the Delta-7 as the ship can easily disengage from the fight and make use of the recharge effect to bolster an R2 astromech. They can also use their ship ability to reposition (to dodge out of a hostile arc) and perform the action in one turn.

There aren't really any pilots who can get that sort of benefit in the Rebel line up. The Y-wing is just too slow, so turning out of the fight to regain shields is not going to work well. The X-wing has an easier time of it, but could find itself vulnerable if your opponent predicted your move. You could easily find yourself in arc of an enemy ship without a focus token for defence, or forced to barrel roll/boost out of arc and not able to use the canister that turn. The E-wing could make better use of it, being a more nippy ship, but the issue remains the same; to get the benefit of the upgrade, you have to spend your action to use it.

My criticisms aside, I think the canister would be best placed on Luke with an R2 unit. You get your regenerating Force points for the defence, and if you really, really want to be extravagant you could slap Supernatural on him to make him very annoying.

It's overall a pretty mediocre upgrade, but its value will go up hugely as and when locks become more prominent/important, especially with Passive Sensors and torps, and potentially passive sensors and x1s.

Yeah, the Delta's Fine-Tuned-Controls really help make up for the loss of action. Ahsoka goes even further when it comes to giving no ****s

No other ship has this kinda thing, unless you have another mod and more points for afterburners

I guess snap? Not rebel, obv

It would be GREAT for Miranda (only 1 agi and only 1 red die when regen; mods not so important) just popping out debris...but she can't take it

Well, to play the devil's advocate, Autothrusters and Vectored thrusters would work the same way, but of course they don't have astromechs. Maybe a future ship? 😛

I mean, she’s got her choice of mines/bombs to drop. Sure it doesn’t shake the lock, but at least it’s something.

Of course if Miranda has the Astro slot, is that even an option worth considering? R2–D2 is pretty hard to pass up for those extra attack die from the regen. Or what about making all of your 1/2s green? Makes Advanced slam a lot more forgiving.

i doubt they’ll ever give Miranda an Astro slot, but it’s fun to theorycraft with.
