Thanks my friend!
Two daggers...? How exactly does that work out for you? Do you get to test twice for each attack action??

You can use both cards on your attack tests but using two weapons does not give you more attack actions and you only test once. Also, you have to use the same attribute to use two weapons during the attack action.
For example, you can use a sword and an ax because they both use Might for an attack test where you can allocate your successes across the two items. However, you can't use a sword and a bow because the bow requires an Agility test and you can only perform one attack test per action. You can run around with a sword and bow, but only one can be used at a time for an attack test because of their attribute differences.

What happened to the one/two-handed mechanic?
So the only benefit to the double-dagger Elana build mentioned is that she can spend successes on the options more times?

I'm not in a position to read the reference rules, but yes. The reason to run two weapons is to maximize success options for an attack.

You're correct about the overall dual-wield mechanic but this quote is a bad example. You can't equip a sword and axe since the axe is a two-handed item.

True, never tried, didn't think about it before and didn't have the reference on hand.
51.4 A hero can equip up to one armor () card, a number of item cards that have a total of two or fewer hand icons (two items or one item), and one trinket ().

You're correct of course.
A better example would be; Sword and Dagger. You can carry both, but since they use different stats you can't use both in the same attack.
At this point in time I think dual Daggers is the only option we have right?

Dual sword.
I only realized it now and wonder why I'm not running Aragorn Pathfinder Dual sword instead of Banner.
I'm patiently waiting for the banner to level up and add cleave. The other stuff to gain inspiration almost never happens 😒
Edited by ThaegganOne Sword, One Axe, two daggers, One Bow, One Staff for weapons in the starter box. So right now, short of buying a second starter box, you can't run two swords.
Now, if the game runs long enough, i'm sure they'll introduce new heroes and some additional weapons, so something will surely become possible eventually.

Except the core box only has one copy of Sword. So that doesn't work for now. Hence Dual Daggers only option...

I'm pretty sure you can't select a second sword in the App either...
But future expansions opening up the weapon choices is almost certainly going to happen.
Short Bows, Single Handed Axes, Maces etc. Plenty to expand...

Just because there is only one weapon on the box doesn't mean you can't pretend you have two. Sure the app won't allow it because it knows there is only 1 sword, but the app can't stop you either from leaving it sword and dagger and just pretending the dagger is another sword.

Yes, you're right. You can cheat in any way you want and the app won't know the difference.

I am a little puzzled why they only gave a few of some of the items though. For a game that allows mixing and matching your characters, they sure didn't accommodate it much with player items. I'm getting flashbacks of LoTR LCG core set card quantities; players can have 3 of a card in a deck, but the box gave only 1 or 2 of the card.

Yeah, that seemed a little odd, too. We might not know for sure until we start getting expansion packs with heroes. Presumably, you also expand the choices of weapons/armors/upgrades through those, which then flesh out considerably what you can mix/match with the starter characters.
After all, there are quite a few holes that imply them being filled in later. Gimli has a card that has a "dwarf" trigger, but until we get more dwarf heroes, it won't trigger for that full effect.
Dual daggers has benefits late-game when you can now have the extra bonuses from two different upgraded daggers. So you don't just get more opportunities for hits, but you can also get access to smite, fear removal after defeating an enemy group, range, drawing an extra card when orb/goblin is near. I still think I prefer harp or banner though.
I was considering trying double daggers for Elena but I went for the harp instead. The question is do you attack more than you start turns with 0 inspiration?

While I agree it might imply more dwarves being added eventually, there is a title card that allows a character to be considered a Dwarf for keywords like that one.

Good catch!

This ties into what I would very much like to know.. More heroes when? xD
I prefer having a wide selection of characters and would gladly pay today, for six more characters tomorrow. Just sayin'.
I'm disappointed in the Villains of Eriador expansion to be honest. It's not a lot of money and I'll be getting it... but a small handful of trinkets and titles and 3 purely cosmetic miniature replacements isn't much. A new hero would be nice.

Yeah, agreed. And while I do worry that the design space around roles doesn’t leave a whooole lot of room for expansion, more heroes would be awesome all the same.
Most of all I just want to have some options when building a larger group? Because if you’re playing with a full party of five, there aren’t many decisions you can make regarding what gear to put on whom without seriously hampering anyone’s capability. Most of that will come by way of new weapons/items/armor, so maybe they don’t have to include a new role with every single character they release.
possible new heroes; Sooo many. Look at other threads discussing this...
possible new classes; Cook, Scout, Wizard, Quartermaster, Scholar, Herbalist, Rider
possible new starting weapons/items; Spear, Mace, Book, Hatchet, Scythe, Hand Axe, Shortsword, Bast ard Sword
There are plenty of opportunities to add things to this game. It just has to sell well enough for them to see a market is there to develop into.
