Okay folks, we're now almost halfway through the promised season of Hyperspace Trials, but where are the Hyperspace Cups that were mentioned at the outset of 2.0. Has anyone heard anything I've missed about size, scope, list building (besides Hyperspace, of course)?
Hyperspace Cups?
Retconned out of existence.
When they got rid of all the confusing names to go with the one set of standard names, what were Hyperspace Cups (aka Nationals) are now Grand Championships (aka Nationals). And, as far as I know, they're extended instead of hyperspace, I think?
I would love to know the rewards for a Grand Championship. What do you need to do in one to get to Worlds? Is it the same as the system opens?
I think it's top 2 get invites

FFG OP posted them to Facebook:
Top four get invites.
we'll have some more information today, in FFG Live.
For us, UK players, it will be on this weekend in UKGE.

@svelok thanks. Seems like a system open has a better chance to get to worlds!
I updated my infographic if anyone still wanted this.... I think this is correct now?
still not sure what the system open invite status is... also there are more events on worlds weekend but I think they're basically hyperspace trials, right?
edit nevermind grands are extended. they used to be called hyperspace cups but now they're extended
I'm too confused by all of this to create anything useful or helpful

This was a major complain in the UK community, at first they announced as a Hyperspace cup and everybody was ok with it and it supposed to be a Hyperspace event, but about a month ago, they publish a new post in the FFG OP Europe explaining that the event will be a Extended format game and they change the name.
I played the hyperspace cup/Grand nationals the past weekend in Birmingham at UK Games Expo.
196 players (Imperial 51, Rebel 44, Scum 28, Republic 24, First order 21, Separatists 16, Resistance 12)
The winner played the famous 5 resistance A-wings.

One of the thing that I didn't like, is the fact that you don't get a participation prize, there's only prize to top 16 per faction.
