Frickin’ Tiny Guns

By CoffeeMinion, in X-Wing

Hi guys. Got a modeling question for ya. I have a decent 40K background if that helps, but these are some fiddly bits indeed.

I have a K-Wing and a HWK that have lost one or more of their tiny little sticking-out guns. I’d like to come up with some kind of replacement, because they look kinda stupid without them. At one point I had one of the guns among my modeling effects, but that was more than a year and a house-move ago; the others are just gone gone gone.

I’ve also got an Upsilon shuttle with a front-gun that’s bent but not broken yet. I’d like to reinforce that before it fully breaks, or something.

Brass rod, paperclips, or various watch parts are the usual suggestions.

It’s nice having a 'bits bin' of spare model parts to occasionally dip into. I’ve got a Bwing I need to repair for similar reasons.

Also, for silly thin guns and antennas, you can actually use thicker brush bristles that will bend and return to their original shape.

That's pretty ingenious! I never would've considered bristles as gun replacements! Thank You!

Super secret modelling technique(tm)

Used to do antenna on battlemechs a lot and a friend of mine suggested it since the danged things kept breaking off. There’s very few X-Wing models this will work for and still look ok, without a bit of extra effort to improve the appearance. The scale would look odd... Kwing and HWK turret though should be ok though.
