Miranda double tap?

By FlyingAnchors, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Veteran turret gunner says "After performing a primary attack, you may perform a bonus turret attack from a turret you did not attack from this round".

However Miranda (K-wings in general, really) has a bowtie turret for a primary attack arc, so does this mean I am allowed to double tap at all in the first place with VTG, or do I need to bump up to Ezra? (Provided I have targets in both firing arcs, I know I won't be able to attack out of the same arc twice.)

Gut feeling is no, but I would like some clarification on it.

Thanks!

You may attack a target within the other end of the bowtie (the arc you have not used for your first attack). You cannot double-tap in the normal sense of it using a bowtie-only ship and VTG (at least I am not aware of any combination of abilities that would allow it).

a bowtie arc is considered two separate turret arcs. you can shoot once out of each with veteran turret gunner.

you cannot rotate arcs 180 degrees and have the same arcs selected after a rotate action, since the rotate action states you have to select arcs that weren't selected.

it is probably possible to double tap the same target with veteran turret gunner and a bow tie turret, as long as the target is larger than you and you're standing close enough and paralel.

Ah, you're obviously right. Parallel parking next to your target should do the trick. But as far as medium-to-long range shots are considered, I am still not aware of any combo that would let you shoot, then rotate twice to perform a 180' flip and then shoot again.

rotating once is enough if the ship you're firing at is in two of your arcs. we're splitting hairs now, though. it's too inconsistent to be viable at a strategy. might come up in some games, sure, but i wouldn't build a list for it. :)

To expand on this: A turret arc is defined in the rules reference as "the standard arc that the turret arc indicator is pointing toward".

So when you have a bowtie indicator, you have two different turret arcs.

Thank you everyone! This makes alot more sense now. I meant double tap in the sense of two attacks, not exactly on the same target in the same round. Sorry for the confusion.
