Simo fire and crits

By LTuser, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Ok, so by the rules (whether 2e OR 1e), ships at the same PS are considered to be firing simultaneously, so if ship A is shooting ship Z and kills it, but ship Z has the same PS as A, he stays on the board TILL he's had a chance to counter fire..

IF ship A deals say a weapons disabled crit (reducing the primary weapon value), TO ship Z.. Does that crit Affect ship Z's counter shot??

Yes.... he fires with all abilities and crits at his disposal or determent

2E : He stays on the board until all ships of the current initiative have engaged.

1E : If he has NOT had an opportunity to attack yet, he stays until he does have an opportunity. If he has already, hes removed immediately.

Are you sure? I was sure this behaviour was exclusive to Fel's Wrath (TIE Interceptor) but on the other hand, my memories of the dark age of 1.0 are getting blurry...

Fel's Wrath always stayed on the board until the following *round* regardless of when he died.

Expanding on @shaunmerritt 's answers, this is covered under Abilities on page 2 of the Rules Reference (1.0.3) where it includes damage card text as a source of abilities. The first bullet point below that additionally says that ability text is mandatory by default unless it says "may" or uses an Action: or Attack: header, and to my knowledge the main text of all damage cards lacks any of those exemptions. Also important to note is the fourth bullet point that says a destroyed ships abilities remain active until it is removed, which means even if ship Z is destroyed in an avalanche of crits it has the disappointment of firing with weapons disabled when it shoots back at ship A.

Um, that was true if he died to Corran's double tap in the end phase, I think. For normal combat, he simply says he sticks around till the end of COMBAT.

Simultaneous fire rules said you only got to fire back if you were the same PS level as your destroyer. But if you weren't, pop, you're gone as soon as the last necessary damage card went through.

Yep. Im sure.
From the 1E Rules Reference pg 17

Quote

If a ship would be destroyed and it has the same pilot skill value as the active ship but has not had an opportunity to attack yet, it is not destroyed. Instead, it retains its Damage cards and continues to function as normal, suffering any effects on its Damage cards. After it has had its opportunity to attack, it is destroyed and removed from the play area.

The reference bolds the "not" in there, not me.

You are correct about Fel's Wrath though. Here is that excerpt from pg 12

Quote

If Corran Horn destroys “Fel’s Wrath” at the start of a round’s End phase, “Fel’s Wrath” is not removed until the end of the following round’s Combat phase.

Oh alright, but that only applies to the simultaneous fire rules of ships having the same PS. From your initial response, I got an impression you meant that even PS1 generic being shot down by PS11 Vader got to stick until they got to make their last dramatic shot. That's something I definitely didn't remember from 1.0 games I had.

Um.. no.. I said "he" in reference to your example. "He" being 'Ship Z'
