Looking at Ascension

By Drop Bear, in Dark Heresy

Ok I've got a game that has players around Rank 6&7 as the types that plan ahead the players are all ready thinking of Ascension. only one player knows where he wants to go dead on, the character is a died in the wool Commissar, the son of military nobility he was raised in the Schola Progenium after their heroic deaths, now a Guard Officer he plans to go Field Command Storm Trooper he sis a stroung leader and combatant. the Sanctioned Psyker is also almost certain they want to go Primas Psyker

the others are less sure, we have a High Noble Assassin who will all most likely go Death Cult, but is also yeing off Recon Storm Trooper, she is death on legs with a Blade and not too shabby with a Neddiler or Las pistol. the character is an expert at Stealth

We have a Gards(wo)man from a Feral World, a peerless sniper also a expert at Stealth, she is looking at either Guard Recon or Vindicare Assassin.

the one who concerns me the most is a High Noble Guard Officer, passable at combat and a fair leader he is more a "Social General" and has no idear what he wants to do with his character when he reaches Ascension.

Looking for suggestions to pass on to my players.

For what it's worth, this sounds like a perfect candidate for either the Inquisitor or Interrogator ascended paths. I would lean toward Inquisitor myself, but I can see Interrogator as well. JMHO. happy.gif

I think Sister Cat is right, sounds like a perfect candidate for Interrogator or Inquisitor.

As above, a prime candidate for Inquisitor...

Another thought is to tweak the Hierophant career. That class is essentially politics/manipulating the masses. You should be able to tweak the Talents into originating from military discipline, exchange any Ecclesiarchy skills/Talents with War/Imperial Guard/Munitorum. It would take some looking at but I think it's a viable option.

Remember, the Careers (like in DH) are templates. No reason not to adjust them to your character.

Ooohhh! ... Nice turn-about, Drop Bear. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I hadn't thought about Hierophant. With a little tweaking, that could be ideal. The Demagogue of Imperial "military" Doctrine. cool.gif

I can see some serious RP potential here. In fact, this sounds suspiciously like a ............ Commisar! gran_risa.gif

Not surprising then that my thoughts on how to make a Commissar character in DH (for those games where people are doing an IG game and not Inquisition) is to start with the Cleric and make a few tweaks. You could likewise do this with RT to reflect a Navy Commissar. The other option for the "armchair general" is to ignore the career-pathing for ascention and allow the brainy Guardsman to transition into the Sage career path. The game setting already supports this in the fluff and novels, as there are tactical specialists attatched to IG and Navy taskforces that fall outside of the trooper/commanding officer chain.

Oops! Seems I was a bit too knackered on that last post. sonrojado.gif

It should have read, "Nice turn-about, 6Kilgs. gui%C3%B1o.gif " ...... My apologies, 6Kilgs.

@ZillaPrime: yep, seems like you are on to something there. And yep, seems like you were on to it long before most of us. cool.gif
