Rules about Monster Components

By Rodrigo_Spock, in The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth

I have a question I could not find in the Learn to Play or Rules Reference. If anyone knows the official answer, please tell me where I can find.

Well, the question is I could not find it anywhere, what happens if the application tells me to put more monsters than I have miniatures for? Do I put any other components to replace or move a group of monsters from another location to the requested new location?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

I've played through a complete campaign and a few missions of the next and haven't come across this. I always thought the app knew how many minis came with the game and therefore knew how many it had allocated out to the adventure at any one time. Perhaps I'm wrong though but seems odd it would do this.

Well, that happened to my group in the first mission, but we’re playing with 5 heroes in the hard mode, though.

Interesting. In those cases I would use only one figurine and a banner to present the whole croup. Or you can allways buy the second core 🤣

These can’t compare to JiMe though because they are list building and army tailoring games. JiMe would be equivalent to Imperial Assault campaigns where contents are limited to the box.

It sounds like an app glitch. It’s not specified anywhere that there is a component limit but that’ll be because the app should know and control the component count.

It can be true! But you Also run out of monsters Also in Gloomhaven and put only Empty standees to the board when you run out moster figurines... So it may Also be intentional.

Gloomhaven's rules specifically say that if you run out of monsters no more spawn.

I had assumed the app controlled this issue. Imperial Assault's app controlled it well, but component management in IA was completely different. Each group had a set number of figures and its own stat card, and each figure moved independently. With JIME it's very easy to use one figure to represent a group.

Speaking of IA... to be competitive in the early days of IA skirmish you needed four $100USD (MSRP) core boxes. FFG did declare "oopsies" on that one.
