[Ruling] Warm Welcome

By Bayushi Shunsuke, in L5R LCG: Rules Discussion

Can you trigger Warm Welcome, choosing a card you cannot play, just to put that card on the bottom of your conflict deck?
(Similarly, trigger Kyuden Isawa to remove a spell event from the game).

- Duty, as an example, appears to be a valid card for targetting (it's a card in your discard pile).
- Based on KI ruling, Duty cannot be played. (assumption is that any Reaction/Interrupt cannot be played by WW or KI).

- The last line of Warm Welcome (If it is an event, put it on the bottom of your conflict deck) is not dependent on the card being played.

You could use Warm Welcome to choose a card in your discard pile you could not otherwise play, and then put it on the bottom of your conflict deck/remove it from the game. While you cannot fulfill one effect (play the card), you can still resolve the other effect (put it on the bottom/remove from game), so the ability effects could still affect the card in some way (thus making it a valid choice target).

Kyūden Isawa has an older templating. Kyūden Isawa cannot be used to remove an unplayable event from the game.
