Empire BCC

By Grathew, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Since my last post asking for advice on how to build an imperial list without MMJ went nowhere. Here is the rest of the list.

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 400/400

Commander: Grand Admiral Thrawn

Assault Objective: Precision Strike
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Superior Positions

[ flagship ] Victory II-Class Star Destroyer (85 points)
- Grand Admiral Thrawn ( 32 points)
- Warlord ( 8 points)
- Agent Kallus ( 3 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- Quad Laser Turrets ( 5 points)
- H9 Turbolasers ( 8 points)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)
= 153 total ship cost

Quasar Fire I-class Cruiser-Carrier (54 points)
- Flight Controllers ( 6 points)
- Expanded Hangar Bay ( 5 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
= 69 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)
= 31 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
= 23 total ship cost

1 JumpMaster 5000 ( 12 points)
1 TIE Advanced Squadron ( 12 points)
4 TIE Defender Squadrons ( 64 points)
4 TIE Bomber Squadrons ( 36 points)
= 124 total squadron cost

As stated in my previous post, I'm looking to build a squad heavy list, avoid MMJ and preferably Sloane. While being capable if not competitive*.

* I'm not talking world class list, just something to win games at locals.

The VSD is very expensive and not very hard to kill. I would drop a Gozanti and use the points to replace the flagship with a ISD-II, GT, LS, ECM, Boosted Comms. You get a few more points to upgrade the TIE-A to Tempest squadron or maybe keep Kallus or a S-Adviser.

Swap out a TIE-D for Mauler Mithel. He will get you more anti squadron damage than the slightly punchier defender especially if he gets a second ramming attack before he dies. Another escort like Black squadron or Zertek would also help achieve this and protect your Intel source as it is the easiest way of locking down the bombers.

This game is more about compact damage in a single activation. You need more dice and damage in a short amount of time. I recommend devastators, phantoms, fire-sprays. Also as said, victories are bad and will not help you. Cut the stuff off the quasar and put squall.

Commander: Grand Admiral Thrawn

Assault:
Defense:
Navigation:

ISD Kuat Refit (112)
• Grand Admiral Thrawn (32)
• Governor Pryce (7)
• Boarding Troopers (3)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• External Racks (3)
• Avenger (5)
= 173 Points

Quasar Fire I (54)
• Captain Brunson (5)
• Expanded Hangar Bay (5)
• Squall (3)
= 67 Points

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
= 23 Points

Squadrons:
• Boba Fett (26)
• Whisper (20)
• VT-49 Decimator (22)
• 2 x TIE Phantom Squadron (28)
• Firespray-31 (18)
• Dengar (20)
= 134 Points

Total Points: 397

The problem with BCC and tie bombers is that you get the same amount of average damage by just taking another tie bomber. Sure its one more point, but its an extra fighter and an extra dice, meaning you have more damage potential with the same average damage the only time it becomes ineffective to bring another tie bomber over BBC IMO is when you would be unable to activate the extra bomber.

BBC is better with with defenders because it becomes ineffective to just take another defender, though Sloan is also a fine option with defenders, but if you don't want to take another commander BBC is a good option.

As far as the list itself I think its a bit squishy. I might do something like this:

Interdictor Suppression Refit (90)
• Admiral Screed (26)
• Captain Brunson (5)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• Targeting Scrambler (5)
• Grav Shift Reroute (2)
• Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
• Interdictor (3)
= 143 Points

Quasar Fire I (54)
• Flight Controllers (6)
• Boosted Comms (4)
• Squall (3)
= 67 Points

Gladiator I (56)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
• Demolisher (10)
= 77 Points

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Bomber Command Center (8)
= 31 Points

Squadrons:
• 2 x TIE Bomber Squadron (18)
• 4 x TIE Defender Squadron (64)
= 82 Points

Total Points: 400

This was just thrown together really fast, but HIE, ACM, and fighters work really well together. The interdictor is super tanky, and once shilds are gone they are surprisingly effective at taking out ships.

It is not a max squadron list, but has some strong versatility, it could always be changed up, but I would take ether a tanky flagship or a lifeboat.
