Reading Rise of the Sepratists , I see it has the long-told story that Dooku left the Jedi shortly after the Battle of Naboo because of the death of QGJ. According to Master and Apprentice , he actually left seven years before that time and was already exploring the dark side on his own (and even seeking an apprentice) before Palpatine lost Maul and approached Dooku to join the Sith. I like this later version better, and it might even mean that the plot to make the clones through Sifo-Dyas was originated with Dooku and Palpatine only co-opted it later after Darthing Dooku.
Dooku's story changed a bit
Haven't started Master and Apprentice yet, but I'm about halfway through Dooku: Jedi Lost . It'll be interesting to see how (if) they mesh in that respect.

The part I put up was intended to be very minimal on spoiling the book. Other than flashbacks, Dooku isn't really in > 99% the story except that it is about two of his former apprentices (QGJ being one of them).
Between Dooku: Jedi Lost and Master and Apprentice, both Dooku and Asajj have had their backstories heavily changed, and now no longer fit what is in Rise of the Separatists.

It's also worth noting that as per Sam Stewart, Lucasfilm doesn't share unpublished information with FFG.
Given how long ago Rise of the Separatists was written, it's no surprise that a book published after this book went to print has a different take on what the story (to that point in time) had been regarding Dooku.
Heck, the AoR corebook still mentions the events of The Force Unleashed (in very broad strokes) as being the catalyst for the formation of the Rebel Alliance, something that's long since been changed in light of the new canon.

Asajj's backstory was vaguely touched on in the Clone Wars but hit the big points and was fleshed out more in Dark Disciple. During a conflict she lost her family, a Jedi defending her people from the weequay saw her potential and trained her as his apprentice, then he died too, then dooku picked her up to train her as his assassin.
It's now changed from that?

Everything from Dark Disciple is kept, and expanded on. However, Rise of the Separatists brings up some Legends lore in addition to that, such as Asajj being the warlord ruler of Rattatak. This detail is no longer the case in canon.

I love that you made up that great verb in your OP. Darthing, Darthed, to Darth. lol

Very well, actually. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of connective tissue between the book and the audio drama.

Got about an hour and a half (maybe a little less) to go in Jedi Lost . Then I'll be firing up the audiobook of Master and Apprentice . (My physical copy is still stashed behind the counter for me at my second gig at a book store, along with my copy of Firefly: The Magnificent Nine .)

I hope you enjoy it!
I love both of those on audio. Jedi lost reminded me of the old Star Wars radio drama from the early 80's.
