This was my discard deck but i was thinking of switching it to yog-shub for ancient guardian, plus aspiring artist is now banned too. the stall characters and hideous guardian work pretty good. and back to the shub idea, i think it would work better with those without faces. and seeing how i have spawn of madness, it wouldnt be hard to really do some damage if blackmoor and guardian are out and then play that to do it all again.

I see where you are going with it, but is it fast enough? It seems you've got a lot going on here and a good deal of it is costly. Is it easy to get beaten up by speed decks? My deck is quite a bit lighter.....

And, as a side note, I'll be making the trip to Columbus this Thursday to see PJ... wouldn't happen to be around for that would you?

the deck works pretty well cause of the stalling it has, not perfect or anything but dampen light and the neutral characters that effect stories do work some what.

nope not seeing pj, dont really have the time or money. was thinking of going to newark but passed. i saw the 4 philly shows last year. maybe next tour ill have the money to see them like i have before. boston is always a good show, shame im gonna be missing that. and something is different since 03... i think that was their last great tour, they still put on some good shows and all but the setlists arent as varied as they were. too many of the same songs are played almost every night now. next tour ill probably get to my 20th show!!!

At least you got to see them last year... I chose to not go to Philly and regret it. My friend went (he's got a 3 digit fan club member ID) and took another friend with him... but, my wife couldn't go and she's been a fan longer than I, so I chose to not go... for her.

Not missing them this year though.

I'll agree, '03 was awesome but I didn't enjoy '06 any less... I didn't pay attention to the set list last year. It's been 4 years since I've seen them, so I doubt I'll be disappointed... AND I really like Backspacer.

here is my new version of the discard deck. havent played this one yet so i cant comment on if its better or worse than the previous one. added more terror and combat so those without faces should work even better. im still unsure if the theorist and grace are both necessary, more play will tell.

I've not bothered with either Conspiracy Theorist or Samantha Grace as my opponent almost always has multiple "wound target" cards in his deck and they never seem to survive when I need them to.

My deck has some similarities to yours, but with a few changes: I've kept the Hideous Guardian as they're VERY useful in the deck. I've also kept the Unspeakable Resurrection and Gathering at the Stones.

However, with my deck, I've added:

• Eat the Dead
• Twilight Gate
• Hungry Dark Young
• Shubby
• Itinerant Scholar
• Obsessive Insomniac
• Eldrich Nexus
• Y'Golonac
• Guardian Elder Thing

The Nexus works really well with the Ancient Guardian. You get to use those Blackmore Estates more now. The Twilight Gate is there to get the Hungry Dark Young in repetatively (I almost always domain it), and that allows me to keep using the Itinerant Scholar to reuse the "big" domain for the Blackmore Estates. Shubby is in there 100% to be on a domain, use the Twilight Gate to move her the big domain and get the Ancient Guardian in play while she's in play. The Insomniac is in there for some extra card drawing, and if need be, to move a card off a domain so the Hungry Dark Young can hit it. Y'Golonac is in there cuz... well.. he just belongs in any deck w/ the Shub Faction.

So yeah, the fun combos are:

• Ancient Guardian + Blackmore Estate + Itinerant Scholar.
• Y'Golonac + Guardian Elder Thing (and lots of extra domains from the Eldrich Nexus to pull things along w/ Y'Golonac)

The latter combo allows you a lot more time to get the first combo in play as you can just keep killing off their characters. Throw in the Unspeakable Resurrection and you get to use the Elder Thing a few times for this purpose. (Or better, if you have the domains, Twilight Gate lets you do the same thing and build the domain)

(And I know using Twilight Gate to pull in Shubby is a dirty trick, but FFG messed up the "text box" and "attached to a domain" ruling in the latest FAQ, so until it is fixed...)

grace and the theorist are usually pretty safe with the hideous guardian out. i was thinking of using hdy but for some odd reason didnt. maybe after i figure out which of the stallers is more useful ill replace the other one with hdy....
