Does fire from lunatic's Molotov cocktail spread?

By TwiceBorn, in Mansions of Madness

Tried searching the web to see if this had been an answered in one of the many other MoM 2.0 "fire" threads on both FFG and BGG forums, but didn't find anything.

During the mythos phase, a maniac (from RN) attacked using a Molotov cocktail. The app text was as follows:

"The lunatic's grin is lit from below by blossoming flame. Soon, a bottle of liquid fire spreads through the air to shatter at your feet. You are sprayed with burning glass and broken petrol. Place Fire in your space. Suffer 1 facedown damage (Agility negates)."

I placed the fire token in my space as instructed and did not extinguish it, but the app never reminded me to spread the fire on subsequent turns. I had the fire spread nonetheless, since the Rules Reference states quite clearly:
"At the beginning of each mythos phase, fire spreads... The app will display a reminder for this effect."

Was I correct to do so (i.e., should the fire not spreading be considered either an oversight by FFG or a bug in the app)?

Or should this fire have been considered an exception to the general rule regarding spreading?

In hindsight... should I have "informed" the app that a fire was in effect by using the "set fire" action, even though it wasn't one of my investigators that set the fire (I've never actually used that action/function in any game so far)?

Also worth noting: much later in the same scenario/session, the app did display reminders to spread fire after one of my investigators dropped a light source.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

Yes. You should inform the app. (Even if you think you could be doubling up with telling it about Fire, there never really is more than one Fire. Even if tokens are on separate parts of the board making it visually that there are two Fires, the rules are still only working as though it is one Fire. There is either Fire going on the board, or there isn't).

But you did the Fire anyway without the app, so the app reminding you wasn't needed. :)
