If enemies move and engage in the shadow phase do the player heroes get to counterattack?
Also, can heroes attack twice in their turn, or can they only perform each action type once?

Hi, heroes do not get to counter attack.
You can conduct any action more than once per heroes activation as long as they have an action remaining to take.
This makes me wonder about Ambush in the Pathfinder cards
"When an enemy moves into a space, you may discard this skill to attack that enemy, if possible, and add 1 success to the test
Strike 2"
I haven't tried to use the card yet, but I don't see a time during the app's moving of enemies to use ambush. It just goes as if you don't have the card.
Yep as you did find out. You can ”counter” attack by some prepared cards or other abilities, but not without.
I don't think the correct phrase is counter attack as that insinuates that you are carrying out an attack in response to being attacked yourself. It's more that some prepared cards allow you to interrupt the enemies movement/attack and apply conditions or hits, the rules do not state that this is a counter attack.
Just wanted to clarify 😁
Thats why ”exclamation” marks

When the enemy activates, the app allows you to click on the enemy's portrait and apply hits and modifiers as per an "attack". I don't believe it prompts for enemy counterattack to follow. So the wording on ambush of an "attack" is a bit misleading since it's not exactly a normal attack, rather it's a free attack test and resolution during enemy activation.
by the way it's very useful as you might imagine. I love the ambush card.
