Who said this game was easy...?! *warning* Spoilers and sorrow ahead.

Yeah I lost my first game and squeaked by on my second; not sure who says this game is easy 😁

There's always someone. I think you can file it under "boasting"...

Not me..

I'll say it! :P

This game is easy...to learn.

Granted I'm only on scenario 5 and won't get to it until later this week, but I've found it to be a tough (and very fun) challenge. I have lost one scenario, but the three I won were by no means easy!

Pfft, I've just finished adventure #3, and I've lost all three so far! This last one I came so close to winning though.

It's not easy trying to apply first aid to some ranger in the woods with one hand while using the other to fight off five orcs trying to kill you, lol.

Just hold on. It's getting easier when you purchase special ability cards for your hero's with your points received during the adventures. Switch roles for some rounds and purchase special ability cards you really need to get rid of damage and fear.

I mean, it's getting easier but I still lost most of the scenario's.

Actually, I think I'm going to start over. I just realized a major mistake I've been making. I didn't realize you could attack twice in an action phase, for some reason I thought traveling was the only action you could do twice. 🤔 I still might lose, but that could make a big difference. I didn't think the battles seemed quite right.

Yes, that was also difficult to get in my system too. (Like you can run by doing two move actions to create a long distance from your enemies) Twice attack needs a lot of inspiration to succeed but if you have strike skill cards you can do a lot of damage..

I lost the third scenario miserably with the three orc hunters. Lost so bad in fact, i was left wondering ''Hey, you suck at boardgames. Ever considered picking up knitting or arts & crafts?'' XD

Everything went bad, from abysmal card draw to app vileness... it wasn't pretty.

Scenario was great however, so looking forward to try it again next campaign!

Interesting video...

a couple things I noticed:

1) Sneaking was misplayed? You discarded it to sprint AND hide! I don't believe you can use two bolded keywords that both require discarding. The reason is you can't discard the same card twice, and there's a specific rule dealing with it (I'm on my phone so I can't quote it here sorry).

2) not preparing a card is bad:

I think it's a common mistake for people not to prepare a card when scouting during the rally phase, but it's strategically bad not to. Even if undying might or clever wit seem useless to Beravor, you've got nothing to lose by prepping one, and everything to gain later--if you need to test might or wit that's a free success (and you only have four at this point)

3) attacking when there's only one success left in the deck is bad:

you sprinted with Bilbo and attacked right after blowing 3/4 of his successes on the first attack. I wouldn't attack again in those conditions. Although using one inspiration and clever wit Bilbo probably could've killed him, but I think you forgot about the inspiration. In that case, the threat timer isn't so harsh that you can't afford to "waste" an action occasionally, and it's worth it to conserve inspiration and maintain health.

4) I personally find Bilbo's low damage limit and the fact that he can only use one hand for weapons (no banner or harp possible) quite a big downside. Combined with Beravor who only draws 3 on attacks, I can see how it would be difficult. Having played the entire campaign, winning every mission (my second time playing a campaign but the first time playing it to the end), only to lose on the last mission...I can tell you that combat is the hardest part of this game.

I think the characters are very unbalanced in this regard too. Legolas and Gimli are clearly better than the other characters when it comes to combat and I now recommend that players include one of them. I prefer Legolas because of ranged attacks, and I like his ability and cards more than Gimli's.

5) Kudos to you for the video. I know it's much harder to think on your feet while filming and I think you did a good job remembering all the abilities and things. There's a lot to keep in your head with this game, despite how smooth it plays.

On second thought, I think I'll just go ahead and play through. Who wants to go backwards at this point? Besides, I always intended this first run through to be a dry run anyway, to learn the rules and mechanics of the game.

The bit where you can move twice by travelling is what confused me, I guess. Being able to perform two whole actions should open up a lot of possibilities, I can't wait to try it out.

So tonight I played adventure #4 (the Inn), and got my first win lol! I didn't even have to do any fighting (odd since it's a battle map), so I didn't get to try out those two attacks.

It occurs to me, however, that when you attack twice, that means you can get counterattacked twice. Isn't that correct? I'm working from memory here, but I don't think the enemies get exhausted from counterattacking. Or do they? Maybe I'm thinking of attacks when provoked. Anybody remember how it works?

Elite enemies don’t become exhausted when they counterattack. Non elite do.

Interesting.

Elite enemies DO become exhausted after they counterattack for the first time. However:

28.2 Elite enemy groups can counterattack heroes even if the enemy group is exhausted.

You think the scenarios are difficult? That's cute. Wait until the finale! We were absolutely CRUSHED. It's the only time during the campaign that I wish we could've gotten a mulligan and started over.

The app saved my final chapter file even though I failed it. I haven't tried replaying since I wanted a complete restart...but I imagine it lets you? I should test that out. And yeah, the final chapter is quite brutal.

It definitely was the only really difficult chapter after the second. Though I only lost the seventh! So what I can say ;)

i was just playing the seventh so wrong and unoptimal way... Not gonna do the same mistake in the next run. Pure 12 win win scenario row in that run. Then to hard Mode :)

but yeah the last one is a tough nuts, good trinkets helps a lot!

Yeah, but trinkets are so random though! I guess that's part of the adventure experience, but it would be nice to have some more choice as to which trinkets I can receive. The torch for example, would've been really good. At least now I have some idea of which search descriptions can lead to which trinkets. I've yet to find the tome though, and maybe one or two others I've never gotten in any campaign.
