Am I choking on my aspirations?

I've seen a few lists that I've taken inspiration from. Yes I know there is a similar list or at least one with the same concept. I created my own list besides the one I am writing about and decided to blend a few ideas.

This list will use Vader and Krennic and will be up close and personal. The list is as follows:

  • Vader 230 pts
  • Force Reflexes, Saber Throw, and Anger.
  • Krennic 100 pts
  • Improvised Orders.
  • Snow Trooper 68 pts
  • Flamethrower.
  • Snow Trooper 73 pts
  • Flamethrower, and impact grenades.
  • Snow Trooper 87 pts
  • Flamethrower, and the FX-9 Medical Droid.
  • Imperial Death Troopers 106
  • E-11 Grenade Launcher Config, and the DT-F16.
  • Imperial Death Troopers 133
  • E-11 Grenade Launcher Config, Comms Jammer, and the DLT-19D Trooper.

  • Command cards: Standing orders, Annihilation Looms, Master of Evil, Deploy the Garrison, New Ways to Motivate them, Voracious Ambition, and Implacable.

Obviously this squad can dish out a lot of suppression and they can move and shoot very well. My only worry is having just 7 activations and armored units.

Nice list with good synergy between command cards and units. I like it very much.

My suggestion for change would be: Take off Comms Jammmer of the DT and use the 15 points to give Krennic Esteemed Leader, since he is only a paper boy with white defense die. Then use the other 10 points to give your other 2 snowtroopers impact grenades, too. This + Vader makes it very scary for armor to get close to you. Unfortunately there is not much you can do against an ATST with mortar that stays at range 4. Just kill his troops faster than he does kill you (But that is absolutely possible with this list ^^).

About your activation problem: Tbh there is not much you can do about it. When you take Vader or Palp you will pretty sure loose the activation game. And sniper teams don't fit in the army. So what to do? You could replace one of your DT with 2 corps troopers. This get's you one more activation and insane activation controle, because if you give your 2 commanders an order +DT through entourage, all tokens left in your order token pool are corps tokens.

At last I want to suggest another unit swap for this list: Use one IRG instead of a DT unit. Since you want to get in, close and personal, why don't you take the best non-commander imperial melee unit? They synergize well with the commanders thanks to guardian. Also they benefit from having 2 wounds per model when you use Vader New Ways card, making this a charge unit with almost range 3!

Tl,Dr:

1. Get rid of Comms Jammer and give Snows Impact and Krennic Esteemed Leader.

2. For more activations and better acitation controle get rid of one DT and replace it with 2 corps troopers.

3. If not 2., then maybe replace one DT with IRG. Would help Krennic and Vader to stay alive and they give you a huge threat range with Vader's New Way Card.

Also I recommended to put +5 points on vader to switch "anger" with "force push"

An aim token is not a big deal on vader attacks and +5 points unlocks some nasty tricks for you: increase treat range, use enemy troopers as shield engaging with push, throw people away to not waste attacks killing a guy, clean objetives, send enemies out of cover...
