Opinion on Gear and mods

Not 100%, sure, but a lot is EU / Legends. Boba in the OT stands around looking cool and then goes out like a chump. Jango does more, yeah, but that is not because the attachments on his blaster have X mods. But that is a matter of opinion, I guess, if grapple guns and flame throwers are armor attachments with mods or just simply equipment.

Do not get me wrong, I love Mandalorians, and they certainly are a counterpoint. But the heroes of the movies do not care about equipment that much.

Of course, there is no right or wrong. Star Wars is big and there is enough space for all styles.

We can see in the movies themselves how much Fett's armor is heavily modified. It's loaded with weapons and gadgets he actually uses in the films, as is his father's as we see in AotC.

Well as for my part of this I did specify that I was talking about depictions in the movies. By that I mean only what was shown in the movie itself, not in products inspired by the movies.

So am I.

I wouldn't say that's 100% true, however, look at how much customization went into Boba Fett's armor, and his father's before him. Both bounty hunters had spent a lot of time modifying their armor with hidden, and not so hidden, gadgets and weapons.

This is something the movies don't explain. We see some gadgets but we don't know how common or uncommon these are. There is no scene showing them meticulously modding their armor, telling us the history of it, or acting like PC's and risking the lives of other people to make sure their gear is safe. All of the information about that equipment comes from sources exterior to the movies. You are quite right that books games and comic books establish them as being a big deal, and the nerd fodder is plentiful as they explain the origin of every poison dart and radar glove with loving detail.

We also don't see them being conservative with the gear, and they just use it as a tool. The characters are more interesting than the gear.

Having said that, TTRPGs are not movies and you have to get down into the details more when you have character living in the Galaxy not just doing 2 minute scenes with fast transitions.

He also has spikes visibly mounted in his boots and dart launchers visibly mounted in his knee pads on the outside of either knee. There's also the rangefinders both Fetts have on the right side of their helmets.

And we see Sabine use hers.

Yep. Mandalorians, in particular, are very fond of heavily modifying their armor. Their armor, and the modifications thereof are a major part of their culture.
