Here's my secret special list, but I'll share it with you, Fickle, because I like you.

Fenn Rau/Predator; 2x Black Sun Assassin/FCS/ProTorp/Elusive

I've toyed around A LOT with Guri and friends, both Hyperspace and Extended. And while she is fantastic, her wingmates ALWAYS let me down. But Fenn. Well, Fenn is sorta supposed to die. And maybe take someone out with him. But Fenn and Guri? A bit pricey together, and what do you fly with them? I never quite got where I wanted with the two of them. But I couldn't leave the 'Vipers alone. So, what kind of 'Viper is the best escort for Fenn? Something that can hit really, really hard if you ignore it. And if you go for the escort, what does Fenn do? Hits you really, really hard.

I've got a couple of loosie-goosie batreps up, if you want to see examples. I *think* it may be the best use of the points. But maybe that's just my playstyle. Of course, it does sort of rely on those fickle green dice, but you of all people know what to do with those.

Personally, I kinda want aces, and don't care as much about having 4 ships.

  • Old Terroch (Fearless or Predator) 58-59
  • Talonbane Cobra (Predator or Composure, Afterburners) 57-58
    • For Hyperspace, replace with Advanced Sensors and Predator or Trick Shot on Dalan Oberos? That looks like a tonne of fun. It'd require dropping Guri's talent to Predator or Trick Shot, however.
  • Guri (Outmaneuver, Advanced Sensors) 79
    • Bid 4-6 points

Advanced Sensors Guri just works so well. Bendy-roll into a dialed-in whote move seems like it's a great option, and using linked actions to calculate doesn't seem wise. Vipers can kinda make it on blue moves, but I wouldn't do it for just a Calculate. On a generic with a full focus, it seems fine. Outmaneuver is kinda industry-standard, but Trick Shot and Predator could be decent, too, to add more bid or a few more upgrades somewhere.

Old T is always a solid ship. Predator can save points and perhaps encourages safer play than Fearless, but Old T kinda needs to be in arc anyhow.

TBC is decent enough. There are points for Afterburners, and dude could use a bit of action economy and really loves range control. Predator is probably a bit better overall (I think that's what Old Para runs, in a radically different list), but Composure can save a point, and has an oddball use of moving into R1, then using Afterburners to fail a boost for Composure, then taking a Lock. 5 dice with full double mods is potent, but I guess it's not really that much better than a Predator reroll + Focus.

If I really wanted 4-ships,

  • Fenn Rau
  • Black Sun Assassin (or Enforcer)
  • Black Sun Assassin (or Enforcer)
  • L3-37 (or ORP)
    • with about 10 points of wiggle.

Kinda anything decent works in the last points. Fearless or Predator on Fenn Rau. Trick Shot or Crack Shot on the BSA. Maybe Tactical Officer on L3, maybe an upgrade to Outer Rim Pioneer, to get the same init as the BSA, maybe both. Dropping from Assassin to Enforcer Init 2 Starvipers and keeping L3 leaves everything at Init 2, and would provide up to a 10 point bid for Fenn Rau.

There is a guy at our LGS that flies Guri, Xizor, and 3 generic Z's. In the beginning of the Game, the z's are basically meat shields for Xizor. If you attack him, he'll shed damage over to the Z's, so you have to kill them first. With how elusive Guri is, there is a good chance you have both vipers in the end game. It's a tough list to go against

I am thinking about taking something similar to my next hyperspace trial. Since the nos e is quite slow I went for seevor instead. Would love to try the foreman, but ini 3 fits so nicely...

kinda wishing i hadnt sold my Zs...but they paid for me arcs and I hated em so **** it

really wishing ys/khirax/kims would hurry up and become standard but ****** if that isn't going to take ages...

at least Seri will be a very nice compliment

Sorry, missed title of thread and don't know how to delete. Anyway, appreciate is not hyperspace legal yet, but had some luck with Kavil, Drea Renthal and 2x Black Sun Assassins (both with elusive) - kit the y wings out with remaining points and they are pretty tanky, and the vipers get rerolls on attack (so long as you fly them with Drea) and defence, so they relatively reliably deal and avoid damage.
