expansions

By Facepalm2, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

I had what i think is a good idea, here it is:

I think that once a year or so they should come out with a deluxe expansion of sorts, it doesnt need new races or anything, maybe just like 10 diffrent cards for each race (in 1,2,3s, like AOU and the core set) and 10 nuetrals or so. that way it gives us a big boost of cards once a year, because i for one wish i was able to get my hands on more then 20 cards a month. I think this would be great becuase it would have 120-140 cards, so it could be priced at AOU, and i think it would probably sell very well too.

What does everyone else think of an idea lke this.

Based on what FFG is doing to the other LCG, I think it's safe to say that there will be other big expansions to W:I.
I just hope they are based on a central theme or on a new neutral race instead of just releasing new cards at random.

Yeah, I was kinda assuming they would do something like that based on the other LCGs. It would be nice to have one big expansion per year.

Ya i was just thinking that myself, they would have to have a theme.

Heres a random example (probably not the best one) just off the topof my head:

It could be themed around ,say, the Drakwald Forest, it would be mostly beastmen (chaos) and wood elves (order-nuetral) they would both have 20-25 different cards each or what ever. then a descent amount for other races, maybe some sort of hunters and woodsmen for the empire, dwarf quarrerlers and the such. then a handful of nuetrals.

That way, it would provide cards for every dck, but still have a center theme.

Yeah a big expansion adding a new race, theme or the likes.
While the bp bulk out existing races and also frequently dish out a new card(s) for an existing neutral race.

I'm going to put on my prophetic visions cap and guess that the next big box expansion will largely boost the Order races and make the game more controllish than what's permissible by today's rush prone environment. If not, then the upcoming Enemy BP cycle will address it I'm sure (I remember reading a post about someone talking to Marketing VP, Mr. Horvath about the rush concerns).

Since BP cycles are 6 months long growing affairs, Deluxe Expansions of 120+ cards can serve as quick and timely injections to direct the card pool's growth in a "positive" fashion (what's positive is FFG to know and for us to guess). Crystallizing the themes on each of these Deluxe releases to make it appetizing for all factions cannot be too hard, can it?

It's good to know someone's being talked to about this - at home, W:I isn't getting played as much as it used to be simply because of the fact that playing straight faction decks favours Destruction and the kids won't go the baddies so they find it a bit frustrating. I mean, we haven't even picked up Assault on Ulthuan or the previous two BPs. Are they good?

I think both packs are great, then again it hink they all are. But if you want more stuff for order then you might want warpstone chronicles

Here is a breakdown of some of the good cards: (SPOILERS)

DEATHMASTER DANCE

It come with a dwarf unit that provides some cheap staying power, for it has toughness.

Empire also gets a nifty tactic, it gives all of your defending units counterstrike 1 for the combat.

Highelves get a handful of average cards, a unit that can boost its damage a limited number of times, A supprt that makes a nice synergy with healing cards, strengthening the healed card, and a unit removal card.

The orcs get a 3 cost unit with toughness, he is a good card for his price. Also a really nasty support which pretty much makes whatever unit it is equippied to a unit more dangerous in death then on the field, potentially killing all enemies in the combat.

Chaos gets the Great Unclean One, the second greater deamon released this far, it is not quite a powerful as the blood thirster but still packs a punch.

Then there is the Dark elf war hydra, it has a sort of limited toughness, its ability essentially giving it 5 extra health. They also have the reaper bolt thrower, a sort of toned down version of the reapeter bolt thrower of the highelfs.

Then of course, there is Deathmaster Snitch...

WARPSTONE CHRONICLES

All factions (including skaven) get a powerful attachment, with the relic keyword. all of them are great.

Dwarfs get Dragon Slayers, They seem like push overs at first, but once read the ability they are a nice addition, able to attack from the quest zone, and have toughness 2. The Dwarfs also get the Flame Cannon, a great attachment, especially against greenskins, it gives a bonus in damage for each enemy in combat.

empire get a sort of powered up pistoliers, not quite as manouverable, but a lot harder to kill.

The rest of the cards ar of varying degrees of usefulness.

Overall, i think that Warpstone chrinicles adds a little bit more for order to rely on. Dont get me wrong, it is also great for destruction, but if you were to mainly give the cards from this deck to order, then it might even things out a bit more.
