Getting a warning on this site?

By Lord Ashram, in X-Wing

Anyone else getting a warning when trying to access this forum, about there being an issue with the certificate?

Yes. Just got one.

lol they let the cert expire

Yup

Yep

Me too.

Cert expiration. Doesn’t actually impact the connection just means the third party who signed the cert no longer backs it.

They should fix it still

Seems to be a bigger problem of Firefox itself. They are working on it.

Safari is the same.

Chrome phone app and Microsoft Edge as well. It isn't a "Firefox" thing...

Indeed.

It's on their end, not the users. Their cert expired, so they need to renew. Just dont pass sensitive information until they do.

Too bad. I was going to post my Darkest Secrets for you all today.

Maybe next year.

Same here. Mobile Chrome, expired cert

Mobile Opera - warning exists.

Posted a thread on the Support forum, don't know if anyone at FFG seen it yet.

At least we are not dealing with the Spam Bots that used to overrun entire forum boards with 5 new spam advertisement threads a second, if anyone remembers those days.

Firefox same here double warning on entering this site

Glad to see it wasn't on my end...

I had it crop up, and posted the same topic in the off-topic area (didn't see we had a support sub-forum)..

It's not browser related.

They let their security certificate expire.

Note the 'https' in the url

According to another player at the Hyperspace Trials yesterday, the company that certifies or whatever is out of business, and it's the same company that the US Government used. So occasionally errors like this will come up, but it doesn't mean the sites aren't safe--their usual security just hasn't been checked in on for a while, or something.

I have no clue but it sounded like he knew what he was talking about XD

The site is safe - for now.

To put in layman’s terms, the cert not getting updated is trying to play a legal list at next weekend’s HST with September 2018 points. You might be okay, you might be way off, but you won’t know until you check with the TO (get a new updated cert), or your opponent notices some glaring error and your DQ’d (you get hacked).

So while we’re fine now, the longer it doesn’t get updated the more potential for someone to find an exploit rises. the sooner the update, the better, but it’s not critical at this point because it just happened.

The site is as safe as any http (not https) site. That means that information sent between your computer and the website is not encrypted, so a malicious party could read and/or alter the information being sent in either direction, and they could do so at any time. https://www.troyhunt.com/heres-why-your-static-website-needs-https/

Honestly very surprised this still hasn't been fixed. Been like 3 days now.

Yeah, fix your poodu, FFG.
