Seventh Sister Crew?

By Cuz05, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Any notable experiences?

I have so far been not at all tempted, it doesn't look a great card at 9pt. The ability seems to be a situational deterrent, rather than a regular spend. Force is often great in itself of course, but I'm dubious it's worth 9pt on a crew carrier. Has the ability itself impacted in the games people have used her in?

I'm looking at interesting alternatives for Vader crew in a list that, with her, would lean hard enough toward theme, for me to be tempted to try and make it work...

Maarek, Feroph- Vader, Echo and a Baron.

Vader can be swapped, more or less, for 7th Sister and 5th Brother. The latter is a particularly spicy 9pt, but I'm unconvinced his sibling is enough to keep up.

I'm kind of loathe to downgrade Maarek and go with Vader alongside 5th Brother, but it seems an obvious route.

9pts for a force user and any decent ability is great. You will be using the force mostly, but her ability, when it triggers, is nasty. I flew against a seventh sister Reaper with Old Teroch, and could not boost into range 1 with teroch. Was quite frustrating. And when you are range 1 and then anyone in your squad (like Maarek) can dish out panic pilot and lay 2 stress, then the enemy ship gets tractored onto a rock.

Like I said, when her ability triggers, it is brutal. But mainly just use her for the force. 9pts is good.

I.... had not even considered this!

Maarek tends to either overkill or simply pull something 'normal' that doesnt show off his ability. Adds a whole new level when you can choose a stress biased crit for the Sister.

Ok, I'm in :D

Currently paused for the night at home, with 7th Sister Feroph blocking AdvS Guri onto debris and just going, yep, stress is best here. Shrug.

(Maarek got alpha'd :()

But the next couple turns may be interesting...

5th Bro Echo is wrecking the other half of the table, so I'm happy, as always, with that side of the equation :D

List is... currently highly experimental.

The Unexpected

(46) Maarek Stele [TIE Advanced x1] (2) Fire-Control System. Points: 48

(47) Captain Feroph [TIE Reaper] (2) Tactical Officer (9) Seventh Sister. Points: 58

(33) Baron of the Empire [TIE Advanced v1] Points: 33

(50) "Echo" [TIE/ph Phantom] (9) Fifth Brother (2) Trick Shot. Points: 61

Total points: 200

There are just so many things I'd like to add to it but that darn 200pt ceiling....

Maarek is not best as an alpha, which he sort of wants to be, here. So not certain. But he is a monster.

The Baron at 33pt has so much value with a Coord at the same Init.

At some point, Echo will be able to Lock independently and the skies will fall.

Seventh Sister crew is much like Admiral Sloane in that just her presence on the board alters the way you opponent flies and what actions they take. They will try to stay outside her 0-1 bubble, take less linked actions, and reconsider when/where they K-Turn, T-Roll, etc. due to the fact that she can roll them onto a rock causing them to lose a turn of firing, take increased damage, and even possibly punish them next turn if they have to overlap the obstacle again. Ships like Poe that normally thrive from being stressed are suddenly much more conservative about using their abilities. Even when you don't actually trigger her ability, you are still reducing the ability for your opponent to fly optimally just by being there. Then she gives you a force point to spend during your turn after your opponent has done their damnedest to avoid stressing themselves around her during the activation phase.

Targeting Computer is coming in the Nantex Expansion. If it isn't faction locked there are allot of builds floating in the hypothetical only realm that could see the table (Targ Comp + Targ Sync Unkar for an ordinance swarm being one I want to monkey with :) ).

Jamming Adv Opt platforms who mess up their positioning and blocking Lulo's transition to pocket T-70 also comes to mind. :)

Passive Sensors too, definitely something I'm going to try on Echo straight away.
