Republic 'use all the ships!' List

By SDCC, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Not a lot of green overall, but quite a few guns!

Current thinking is that Mace would zoom off and flank whilst the rest stays somewhat together.

I do have concerns about my inexperience with medium bases, so gas clouds and debris.

Wanted Anakin, but I'd rather Mace have some toys.

Mace Windu (46)
R4 Astromech (2)
Delta-7B (16)
Ship total: (64

104th Battalion Pilot (42)

104th Battalion Pilot (42)

Gold Squadron Trooper (25)

Gold Squadron Trooper (25)

Total: 198

Remove troopers. Get another jedi

I'm a fan of the Golds. They aren't particularly special, and they will die. But they do provide interference/blocks and they will chip away if just left alone. They're sacrifice generally allows my bigger hitters to do the job. Very thematic I think.

One part of the list is just having 5 ships. I rarely run so many (not played a TIE swarm in a while), so it should be fun at least 😀

I've had some success with this list, however swapping out R4 for R2 on Mace. YMMV, however I've found the ability to regen 2HP on Mace to be an important factor in a tournament setting.

When it comes to flying medium bases alongside small bases, I've found some success in using a loose finger-four formation in which the V-19 torrents sit on the flank/side arc of the ARC 170s in order to block/discourage flanking maneuvers by the opponent.

By having three different ship types in the list, you give yourself an opportunity to present several different 'looks' to your opponent. Mace would be the natural first-choice target, but if you fly him in such a way as to force your opponent to brave 2-4 other firing arcs in an attempt to hit your lone Jedi, youll find your opponent adjusting his targeting priority. The ARC-170s are there to attackattackattack and simply put out red dice until they get chewed through. The key for your V-19s is to get good value from them in terms of blocking/influencing opponent maneuver choices.

Set up is a weakness for me. I know it depends on obstacle placement and the enemy list. But a basic idea of how to set up wouldn't go amiss. Turn 0...my weakness.

Flew the list last night (pictured!), and I've got some thoughts on it.

1. I made things difficult with rock placement. They need clumping together to make space, or at least very clear lanes.

2. I didn't need R4 on Mace. His ability helps with stress anyway, so I could slap some regen on.

3. Any of the Jedi would work really. Perhaps Kenobi with CLT for the higher I.

I did enjoy flying it, and I will be trying it again!

I'm I'm planning to fly this tomorrow with Obi-Wan, Calibrated and R4-P17.

I'm calling it Obeef-Wan Keno-mods :).

Obeef-Wan Keno-mods, now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time ...

The first Republic or CIS list I flew was the same 2 ARCs and 2 Torrents, plus Obi with R2 and CLT (Regen on Soontir Fel? Sounds good). I feel like the base archetype has potential.

ARCs have decent attack dice, and the rear arcs matter for keeping guns on target. The Torrents die, but that's their job. Shots into the torrents mean fewer shots into the Jedi and ARCs, who bring the actual damage. They aren't very tanky, but they're cheap enough that they've got a lot of toughness for their cost.

I'm not sure whether I'd stick with CLT Obi-Wan however. Bullseye isn't too hard to get, but the cost is that you'll almost surely have to be using force each turn for reposition actions which, since they're incredibly specific on attack, might open you up to bad positions when defending. Additionally, it's harder to justify a Lock over a Focus action, and Locks are so good with Jedi (although you can reroll the eyeball result). I feel like it's probably worth giving CLT Obi-Wan a shot, simply because it's good to experience the differences first hand, but I think I'd probably rather have 7B Mace. There will no doubt be meta-call stuff in that, how many large ships, how often will Init 5 matter more than Init 4, but it's a low-bid 5, so not always great for arc dodging.

So many potential blockers would make me want to run luminara

Can't get that hit back if you're not focused!

Now that I've taken the time to read the other Jedi abilities, I must say I see what you mean.

Just knock down the odd attack. There's a fair bit to chew through, which will be even more annoying if you're stealing the off crit or hit away.
