Rebel Armored Infantry!

By BenBot, in Army Building

Here’s my first attempt at trying to get as many vehicles in a list as I can!

It might be janky but it might be terrifying as well...? :)

I like to imagine all the vehicles racing across the board and wiping all three enemy sniper teams on turn 2 or 3. Hehe.

I’ve yet to try it!

Armored Infantry (795/800)
Rebels

Rebel Officer (50)
- Esteemed Leader (5)

Rebel Troopers (40)
- Z-6 Trooper (22)

X-34 Landspeeder (75)
- RPS-6 Rocket Gunner (36)
- Mark II Medium Blaster (34)
= 145 total points

Commands: Standing Orders

Have you tried it yet?

I'm considering trading in my T-47 for a trio of AT-RTs for a few games.

I don't think the HQ uplinks are needed, that should give you enough points for some astromechs?

I haven’t tried this list yet! I’ve tried 3 AT-RTs a couple times and I do like it. It’s a lot for your opponent to answer!

I’ve tried 2 AT-RTs and a Landspeeder once. It was pretty fun but the Landspeeder did go down pretty quick once it was exposed.

If I were to tweak this list now I’d likely swap the Rotary’s and HQ Uplinks for Flamethrowers. Maybe put one HQ Uplink in the Landspeeder to make the most of it.

I’d try and get enough points to upgrade the Officer to Leia.

I tend to use Han, so I'm thinking an uplink on a flamethrower AT-RT would be a good plan. I usually use the uplink on my T47 which improves it a lot when combined with Sorry about the Mess and Reckless Distraction.
Not that it makes the T 47 particularly effective mind, just longer serving. The one time I tried it with a flamethrower it stomped about at close range spraying fiery death at stormtroopers with with wanton abandon until Vader took care of things personally.

'If in doubt, kill it with fire' is a valid approach to many wargames.

Why no astromechs in this context?

I still haven’t tried more than one astromech in a game. I’m always scrapping for points so I usually cut them out.

I can only imagine your opponents frustration facing 3 AT-RTs with astromechs keeping them alive though!

😁 👍

Looks like an awesome list i've tried similar but it usually includes the t-47 since i dont have the land speeder as of yet. I'd agree that those ATRT's absolutely NEED astromechs to keep them useful

I did a rebel list like this, it was a ton of fun, Only thing extra i had was the T47 and dropped one of the AT-RT and a reb unit. Bulked up and added a couple of droids. Even used an Emplacement lol

Cant even remember if it won or lost. I think lost but still fun I remember it was a close run thing

I was actually thinking of something a lot like this today....

Commander (1):

Rebel Officer (50) + Improvised Orders (10) = 60

Corps (3):

3x Rebel Troopers (40) + R5 Droid (8) = 144

Support (3):

3x AT-RT (55) + AT-RT Flamethrower (25) = 240

Heavy (2):

1x X-34 Landspeeder (75) + RPS-6 (36) + Mark II Medium Blaster (34) + Outer Rim Speeder Jockey (10) = 155

1x T-47 (175) + Ground Buzzer (20) = 195

Total: 794, 6 point bid.

Command cards:

Ambush, Push, Assault, Standing Orders, Sabotaged Communications, Turning the Tide, Covering Fire.

alternative loadout to take advantage of sabotaged communications: substitute another X-34 with same loadout for the T-47 (frees up 40 points), and take a Strike team (sniper: 2 point bid; or proton charge: 4 point bid).

I don't know how I feel about not playing any "named" character, to be fair.

They are... I don't know how I would be able to manage an army with "regular" cards.

Wow! That’s a lot of armor on the table for 800pts! 😁 👍

Objectives might be tricky but it would be a very intimidating list on the table.

I think being able to get Leia into the list would help a lot with it’s competitivness.

But it is fun to use an Officer and put those points into more crazy vehicles!

Thanks I was just trying to figure out the maximum amount of armor possible though :) (you can also do 2 T-47s, by ditching the ground buzzer).

What about two Landspeeders?

Cheaper than a T-47 and might be pretty nasty depending on how you kitted them out. I wish that Landspeeders could provide cover and displace enemy troops more often...

I mean, sure, although I’m not sure what you’d add with just 40 points; maybe another strike team?

The advantage on the 47 is that it’s far and away tougher (the x-34 is basically cover 4)

The heavies would be throwing fewer dice with the Landspeeders sure!

I think it would be easier to keep guns on target with two Landspeeders going speed 2 instead of the airspeeders speed 3. And easier to focus fire with both speeders going the same speed.

You would lose the alphabet squadron feel but it might be easier to run.

And a 4th Trooper unit might help as well.

Would the Taun Tauns make a big difference to these lists i wonder?

Well, they don’t have armor, and their defense is from dodge tokens, primarily right? So I’m not seeing how they’d be better for anti-sniper stuff.

Not playing a named character makes me want to do it even more. I'm from the old 'special characters are crutches for weak skills' school of gaming and I prefer to have my own character's saga to build on.

Not that old school works well in Legion- it was obviously designed as a charactercentric game what with the command cards and effectiveness/points value ratio. I substituted Luke Skywalker in instead of my T47 at the weekend- easy to use, effective and fewer points.

Ah ah, I get you. Most of the "normaly named characters" I play are "mine" just using the profil of the "heros".

I need to find a substitue for my Luke (already watching toward Skullforge) and for my Leia (moreover, I hate the model...). Jynn, I could play Shak'oza, my "guy" which is operating a bit like her, but I don't have a specific mini for him.

But yes, I feel you... I refuse to play both Twins together when Reps side.
