Separatists for Hyperspace

By Withercraft727_, in X-Wing Squad Lists

My favorite faction at the moment is Separatists and I was hoping to fly them at my first Hyperspace Trial in a few weeks. So far, I have come up with two possible lists, but I can’t decide which one to fly. Also, I would appreciate any tips or suggestions for the tournament or either of my lists.

My Plan with the first list was that Dooku could support the swarm from the side and occasionally fly in to take a chunk out of my opponents list. Since Dooku would be decloaked during the first part of the combat phase, he could soak up damage and recover any lost force with hate. He could then attack, cloak, and hopefully survive against any remaining ships that try to nuke him. Dooku could also make use of the tractor beam to drop ships right in front of my vulture swarm, which should not only line up some bullseyes for my precise hunters, but they should be able to survive any return fire due to DFS-081 and K2-B4.

My second list works similarly, but instead of Dooku, I have Grievous, who could fly with the swarm in formation. Once my opponent tries to engage the swarm, Grievous could speed up and flank my opponents ships, using daredevil to make tight turns when boosting. The swarm on its own would work similarly, but they would have a hull upgrade to give them that one extra bit of survivability. Any thoughts?

I think the best way to play dooku, especially with hate, is to start the engagement cloaked, but in a super aggressive position. As your action, take a TL. Even better if you can bump a whole chunk of their list too. The rest of the vultures should try to be as far away as possible.

Now, If the opponent can't resist and take a shot at dooku, you spend a force to decloak and shoot back. If they decide to ignore you because they know you can't shoot while being cloaked, it's ok. You got your TL, now just 5K turn and come back after them.

And personally, Grievous is a poor ace to try and make a list around. I've flown him a few time, and while he was good, i'm not 100% sure he's ''worth his points'' good. I dunno, might need some more practice, or a new relay, or something.

Grievous is best as a naked filler imo. Maybe the plating too. Maybe.

That being said, I'm a bigger fan of Dooku and Swarm, but I like a little more aggression:

Dooku (HP, PerCo, Grievous, Scimitar)

6 x TFDs

Dooku decloaks, moves, double focuses, fires at I7, cloaks, defends with a focus and grievous. Vultures run interference and fees grievous

The only thing is that I currently only have 4 vultures. I also prefer hate on Dooku so that I don’t run out of force so quickly, but I can see where you are going.

You could just make them 4 better vultures!

And as for Dooku, it's a hit and run build, ya feel?
