Sheildbreaker rules clairafaction

By Thrumbar, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

According to the book the shieldbreaker round causes a feild to drop for 1 round. How is that played in the turn based system.

Round 3 the Assassin fired the shieldbreaker form his/her rifle (rof of 1)

Does the field stay down untill

1. the shooting phase of round 4

2. the end of round 3

3. the end of round 4

my thanks in advance

Generally effects that last 1 round would last until, in the example, the Vindicares turn comes back up. So the Field would come back up right before the Vin gets to go again or to follow your wording the begining of the Vins turn in round 4.

While that would be the most gamey answer, it appears almost useless for a Vindicare to knock down the shield just long enough that he can't make use of the opening.

I don't think that is meant to really be a benefit to the Vindicare, just an interesting side-effect of the thing that benefits them. After all, the round automatically ignores the Deamonic Trait, any and all psychic (or sorceress by extension) protections, and any refraction fields. So, when a V fires one of these beauties, no psychic power, daemonic toughness, or refractor field will slow it down. It will pass right through them (shutting the shields down as it goes) until it hits something solid doing 2d10+2 with a pen that will make most any physical armour useless... and as an after thought, those fields and psychic protections that the round effortlessly passed through will be down for a round (how ever you interpret that) as well.

True, the shield going down is useless to the loan-wolf Vindicare, but if other folks are also gunning for the target, they can definitely take advantage of the hole made by V. So, it really doesn't benefit most normal loan-wolf Vindicares in their operations, but it dose benefit the ones who would be working with a team like the PC Vindicares. ;-)

well they usually aim to kill in a singleshot I thought? (you get a single bullet of every type if you become a vindicaire... for example)

so they shouldn't need the effect anyways and it is just a side effect

Each person's Round starts at the beginning of their initiative and ends at the next rounds count of that number.

For example, if the Vindicare has an initiative of 27, the one round the shield would be down is from count 27 through 1 and back round to the beginning of 27 on the next round of combat.

If the enemy had an initiative of 28 then even though a new round of combat had begun, the shield would still be down (therefore not negate any reaction shots that may take place during his turn), the shield come back up on initiative 27. This works regardless of whether you use static or dynamic intiatives. If dynamic then if the Vindicare rolls 14 for their next rounds initiative, the shield would stay down until count 27, not until count 14.

The side efect of the bullet seems to be a complimentary addition to its main bob of allowing the Assasin to shoot through psychic protection and energy fields. As a result of him being able to do this the field is lowered and thus for very tough large targets with a great deal of HP (can anyone say the Greater Deamon or a house bred Chaos Lord etc or even a rogue Tech-Priest with a rosarius or similar device) that the assasin may not kill in one shot, others benefit from his ownage awesomeness.

I think its a really good idea!

Esp as I will be sending my party to hell and beyond in Ascension.
