Core set Observations

By Matt3412, in Star Wars: Legion

So just an observation but all the units in the OT core box art were released into the game.

So looking at the clone wars box art the units on it not announced are.

Super battle droids, AAT tanks, LAAT gunships and OG-9 [big spider tank].

Update: there is also a B1 carrying a sniper.

There is also a Venator in orbit so I guess that breaks the idea that all those units would be included.

Nah, we'll get the AT-TE and AT-AT sized units in epic play, and the Venator in Super Awesome most excellent Heroically Epic Mega play. Point limits are in the millions.

The Venator will be a represented by a gaming mat that you play your game on.

I’m still waiting for a Tantive IV gaming mat and scenario combined expansion.

I always thought it would be cool to play on a map that’s the inside of a big ship.

It would be all sharp angles, but there’s no reason that snipers and speeders wouldn’t still be able to be used. Some of those ships and their corridors are huge. Look at the Mellevolence, it had a train inside.

Venator is for the Armada cross-over, duh.

The premium bases that FFG has for Legion would match a starship interior (or exterior) pretty well.

When I get Fleets I want to use those bases for that reason.

It's also a neat way to resolve the 'how do I base my Imperials?' question. Because stormtroopers for any particular locale still show up on Star Destroyers, right?

What is Fleets?

Rebel fleet troopers.

Gotcha.

Make a big docking bay styled room full of barrels and stuff.

I base everything in Legion to match my best terrain table. If they don't match something else so be it.

Observation: The core set for Legion is maybe the best value in Scifi miniature gaming right now.
