Flew Anakin in a casual game last night and he seemed underwhelming to say the least. Comparing him and Poe he feels overcosted. With the 7B configuration he’s a whopping 78 points. Does the community feel the same? Please share your thoughts. Thanks

I've only used him with CLT. He's a good deal cheaper and doesn't struggle too much to line up those bullseyes. But yeah, I feel like he pays probably 5 points basically to be able to fly in the same squad as Ahsoka. Any faction with a support ship like her has to pay more for their aces.

Poe can focus+lock, or roll+boost, but it costs him a stress.

Anakin can force+lock, or roll+boost, and it's stressless...

Anakin is excellent with 7b. I have yet to be disappointed running him.

• All of his actions are white and the ship ability allows a linked action that doesnt end in a stress.

• He has always available "focus" modification in force provided you don't over re-position.

• Resource management is rewarding and makes him very difficult for you opponent to deal with.

• 3 Hull

• 3 Shields

• Thats enough HP to shrug off some shots, you can trade for good positioning and dont always have to avoid arcs.

• 3 force charges

• Init 6

• Again the trade thing, at i6 with full mods at R1 he can delete ships before they shoot while in their arc.

• Stressless double re-position, worth repeating.

• Great pilot ability

• Purple Evade is hugely useful with 3 force charges, stupidly underutilized by the community.

• Fine Tune Controls works after flying over rocks which is bananas.

• Excellent Dial with 2 different speed K-Turns and 2 sloops. (Never stressed so you always have these as an option).

• The 5 k turn gets so much distance that you can usually disengage and reset for an attack all in the same turn.

• If you dont want the disengage k turn you just opt into the 4k or the sloop and keep shooting

• Anakin Target Locks all the time because force charges are so powerful which means the turn arounds are often double modified

• He cares significantly less about getting blocked then nomral aces because he has charges to back him up.

• The 1 bank is a big deal. Fenn and Soontir are very jealous.

• The 1 hard turns allow you to juke people out of their shoes.

• No 3 turn but you can boost to make one exist

• Adding Afterburners makes it alot easier to manage resources and get those R1 Alpha Strike shots off.

• Adding Regen lets you run to time fairly easily. He doesnt need to disengage but he sure can and recharges force + shields along the way.

• Only 78 pts! That is not actually a lot for an I6 ship that can do all of these things.

• Fits with a bunch of really fun, solid republic lists.

• He is either costed exactly right or a little cheap. Mainly because when you list build with him you can fit some fairly significant bids when your done with little compromise (just drop regen).

• 

He plays to full potential when the player using him manages his force charges. Though its overblown how difficult this is. Even with 1 force charge he is extremely good and its not like he cant take a normal focus action.

Anakin is stronk, but you have to be VERY conservative with your Force, especially in the opening engagements. Spending all your force in one turn is an absolute death sentence.

Thanks boom owl. Very good points. A new ship will take more practice to get better with it. You talked me back into bringing him to the table. I also think I had him outfitted wrong. Suggestions for Anakin builds?

A lot of good points, however these specific two I find I disagree with strongly. There are cases for purple evade at times, but the reality is most times I find spending the force elsewhere better. Though I had one stupidly hilarious instance where purple evade paid off. Ahsoka on turn 1 did a 2 hard to face towards the corner, expecting no shots. Took purple evade because lol why not.

Blackout pulls this ridiculous Tavson combo. Gets coordinated to roll focus behind the shuttle, then executed blue 5 forward locks a rock then boosts. Tavson triggers to tractor blackout forward. Gets barely at edge of range 3.

he rolls natties and I roll blanks on 3 green.

But aside from that I’ve only used it a small few times. It really is an option of last resort.

Anakins ability is ok, but I wouldn’t call it great. As often as not I’m happy to keep the stress even when I could trigger it. Rather have the force for mods.

Fair point. I use the term great there in the context of the entire ship. Anything more useful than this would drive points into the mid 80s, eating up Bid in the process. Probably another word for that besides great, maybe balanced.

Also I run burners which makes it more useful, basically 5k/4k or sloop into a boost to r1 or bullseye clear stress.

My purple evade comments though I stand by. Its helpful and on the action bar for a reason.

Anakin- R3 astromech, 7b (81)

Odd Ball (torrent)- trick shot, concussion missiles, synchronized console (48)

Gold squadron x2- concussion missiles, synchronized console (33x 2= 66)

total points= 195

Run the troopers together with Anakin setup as a flanker.

Sounds fun! Give it a shot. Might consider Swarm Tactics on Oddball.

Most players are avoiding the named torrents in favor of the better priced Gold Squads and Jedi with more toys.

Either way that looks more then entertaining enough for a casual night!

Give X-Wing Anakin more power and nerf Battlefront II Anakin power. 😛
