Do you still enjoy your faction?

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

I play Resistance and First Order mainly. I've been slowly evolving a resistance list. Still enjoying every game.

im still enjoying scum, i think its the challenge of building a competitive squad post points adjustment.

Resistance is my jam, but I'm looking forward to putting my yt2400 on the table in hyperspace eventually.

Really struggling with Resistance Bomber and 1300. Hoping something interesting might make them viable with the Res Transport in wave 4.

I own only imp and FO, and I am planning to follow only imp. I enjoy it but I admit I wish I had more upgrades to spice my game a bit. I like building " quite unique" lists and I think scums have more variability right now than any other factions.

I wasn't hyped by the prequel factions at first but discovering the new ships, I am totally changing my mind.

good call on scum. they r the faction that has the most unique options. just wish ffg would develop the illicits a bit more.

I like to fly 4-5x same-ship lists, so from a financial standpoint, every ship released is effectively a potential new faction 🤣

My previous game was Star Wars Destiny so $100-$120 every time an interesting ship comes out its still a massive savings 🤣🤣

As a Resistance player, yes and no.

Yes, because I think it's very cool, the options we have. We have some really interesting ones. They'll only get better and better with time... But I HATE that we're not getting any new content for... way, way too long. It's especially bad for the First Order, because what- the next thing they'll get is..?

We don't even know. Wave 6 will probably not have T-85s, The TIE/in-FO, etc. I mean, there is a lot of content we could have but we're JUST not GETTING it. We're getting rereleases. Lots and lots of rereleases. And maybe 1-2 new ships. I'm not digging the way waves are being handled at the moment if I'm totally honest.

Which is why I've gotten into The Republic as well. As cool as The Resistance's options are, the ones I'm betting on coming soon just... Aren't. I want gameplay variety, and I've honestly been on a real Republic kick lately, because they have some absolutely fantastic options that I've been utterly fascinated by.

V-19s are the most interesting puzzle in the game to me right now. There's something about them I believe in.

Oh god see this is exactly, exactly what I'm talking about. Han+Rey+Rose is really interesting but oh so expensive. Resistance gets almost no worthwhile filler aside from putting 2 A-Wings in our pockets and that's just not the job I want them for? But Poe+Rey just, holy crap that is almost impossible to make work right sometimes.

I love the bombers. I think they're amazing units, but you cannot run them without escort/filler. God, I wish I could load up V-19s alongside a pair of bombers.

ok im not even a resistance player but i can see the game is absolutely suffering from some 'lag' caused by the release schedule. This is more noticeable in certain factions and only impacts on those of us who are trying to stick to a limited number of factions or in my specific case - just one faction (Scum).

Scum was spoiled for choice early on in 2.0 and im going to go out on a limb here and say that some (many?) who were scum players are now jumping ship into separatists and/or republic now that scum options are less. Scum for example isnt going to get any new content for quite some time. It is getting the jumpmaster5000 as a rerelease soon but i don think this will have the wow factor that some other new faction ships have... jedi starfighters are just cool and droid swarms supported with Dooku or Maul are 1000% more interesting.

The skeptic in me says that FFG have deliberately chosen its release schedule to temp single faction players to jump ship to the new toys offered in new factions. Something else that is a growing concern is an emerging trend for FFG to make the new stuff good to get ppl to buy in and then nerf it into the ground to make way for the next wave of toys. Hope im wrong but this makes perfect sense from a marketing perspective right?

There is a silver lining here tho... at least for dedicated scum players are digging and tweeking ideas that they were given in the scum conversion kit but never bothered to explore.

One thing about Scum complaints… don’t forget they’ve gotten 3 brand new ships in 2.0 already. The Scum Falcon, the Escape Craft, and the Mining Guild Tie. Which ties Separatists for number of brand new craft in 2.0.

Like I get the timing feels frustrating, but Rebels And Empire have gotten zero new ships. And even discounting the new ship factor, Scum still do well on 2.0 releases.

FO are taking it the worst I think. Resistance would be aside from the RZ-2 and the incoming transport.

Edit: I will add I get that it feels worse than it is due to the gap in releases. But I mean the last new Empire ship was a year ago with the Reaper.

ship availability/viability created by the latest points adjustments have arguably helped rebels the most of any faction... Leia crew with rebel beef has spammed hyperspace... Scum in hyperspace did get the starviper so thats helped... these same points changes impacted on scum too... Scum had what they were previously winning with effectively-nerfed... Boba/Palob+Moldy Crow/Han gunner/jakku gunrunner/advanced sensors4-LOM... scum falcon/escape craft/mining guild are nice toys but less appealing to build a winning squad with.

scum still has options aplenty, just quite a few less than they had in the beginning of 2.0 which makes the scum release drought seem worse than it probably is in reality.

i get that this is a cyclic thing, scum players can also look fwd to the next points adjustment and hope some of their hidden arsenal of ships/upgrades gets rolled out of the hangar.

I own almost every ship in each faction, so I tend to mix up what I play. That being said I am enjoying the Republic a ton! Jedi and Clones are a blast to play with, and the CIS really has surprised me with how fun they are as well.

Nah, the nerfing doesn't make a lot of sense. If it did, V-19s would be really good and RZ-2s would be at least 50% more expensive by that logic.

But they are definitely trying to tempt players. A wave that releases nothing but a new faction? Then a following wave with a few drops for a few factions that are new then a wave where only two of the ships are new and for the new factions?

Oh I see what they're up to. And no, I am not necessarily happy about it, either. But, as somebody who wanted to stick to Resistance, what can I do about it? Not much. To boot, if Resistance Y-Wing rumors are true, hey. Then I'll have three different Y-Wing models to play with.

Dammit FFG.

I initially bought the Scum conversion kit, but suffered buyers remorse and picked up Imperial too. Now I’ve bought into the Republic.

I love them all, and they scratch different itches.

With regard to the FO and Resistance releases, there aren't a huge amount of ships to draw from compared to literally every other faction - even the newest ones - so a slow release schedule may be frustrating, but it's a symptom of basing ships on a still-developing era of the franchise, as opposed to eras that have had literal decades to not just be fleshed out for ship types, but intricate and referencable details and pilots for them. FO is definitely the worst of the two in this regard - at least until the next movie - but I don't think a slow release schedule for either can be entirely laid at the feet of FFG. If they're not being given the details/clearance on ships far enough in advance, it's on Disney/LFL not FFG.

Doesn't make it any less irritating though y'know?

Nope, on that I think you'll find everyone agree.

I for one am baffled there wasn't FO and Res stuff. and TWO scum things? That basically nobody asked for quick re-releases of?

z95 and jumpmaster5000 r interesting choices. lets see what the jumpmstr costs after nxt points adjustment.

I decided with 2.0 I would cull down my collection to just three factions.

1. Rebel - Love playing them B-wings will always be my favorite ship.

2. Republic - Jedi...yes please

3. Resistance - Love the t70 and the Black One paint scheme.

So I'm still happy with this decision and am loving experimenting with Republic right now.

I’ve been playing Scum thus far in 2.0 (just a couple games, just got back in). What I can say up to this point is that some of the fun is still there, but I’m having a bit of trouble adapting to how hardcore a trio of high-init ProTorp T-65s is this edition. Initiative was always important in 1E but it feels less forgiving against these monsters.

I’m also still pants at fancy-flying medium-base ships through furballs and around rocks. I can still do all right with larges and smalls, but inevitably I park my mediums on a rock at some clutch moment during each game.

But I think it’s still a good “home” faction. Lots of variety, lots of shenanigans. The only thing I absolutely hate thus far is that they nerfed Feedback Array to be 0-range. That pretty well nukes one of my favorite lists from 1E: 5x “bug zapper” Z-95s backing up a semi-credible threat.

I'm pretty convinced the feedback Nerf was in prediction of a herd of boosting yt1300s frying everything in their wake
