what are scum players bringing to the table?

By Greedo_Sharpshooter, in X-Wing

I have been running this in my local league:

3 Jakku gunrunners

1 Starviper (Black sun assassin) w/ crack shot

1 Starviper (Dalan) w/ crack shot.

Between the tractor array, reverse maneuvers, and the barrel rolls, the list has been fun to fly. I ran into an issue with tie defenders, and I’m wondering if I should drop a gunrunner for some upgrades like outmaneuver on the Starvipers.

anyone seeing any starvipers winning tournaments?

Someone made 3rd place out of 46 with four Black Sun Assassins + Crack Shot at our Hyperspace Trial.

thats an interesting squad. im not sure its better than fenn + 3 Zeolus Recruits. vipers have a little more durability but fangs squad gets concordia dawn for added defense and Fenn :)

In a head to head, my money is on the BSA. The Starvipers are superior rock hoppers and will be engaging from better angles. The Zealot blocks have to be super on point.

Vs the field, I am not sure.

id say its up to Fenn. If he gets 1-2 close range shots its usually enough to swing the game in ur favor. If hes alive in the endgame ur in gr8 shape. lose him early and ur zealots will find it had to leverage shots.

Drop that thing around 3 close asteroids and its a large no fly zone.

The whackiest thing to me is that he's dropping the seismic normally from a y-wing instead of trajectory-launching it with nym. Saves 14 points but means he needs some fancy flying to get that bomb somewhere useful

On another note, I saw a bananas combo of jabba + contraband + han gunner on a YV on reddit which sounds like a good laugh on bossk

Here is my buddy's round 6 game at the system open on gold squadron

I played this combination of ships a few times, liked it a lot.

Compared to yours, I use fearless on Ketsu and remove Tobias and qi'ra for a 3 point bid.

Since there is hardly a faster ship than the shadow caster, don't try and follow it with L337. Just stick her with Boba and make him tanky. Reinforce before moving is nice.

How is the ruling on shooting while on a rock with qi'ra? I thought it didn't work. So maybe drop something to upgrade to outer rim pioneer?

He's my new hero... :)

I'm going to try a variant of his minus the bombs.

Still waiting for hyperspace Ys so I can troll around with Xizor

Optimal or not (not :( ) he's too hilarious not to fly and he plays completely unlike your flightier Viper

just a lil worried there isnt enough firepower. two 3 atk dice ships and one 2 atk dice ship? just looks like an uphil ttle getting thru enough dmg.

Played one Hyperspace Trial, and couple Hangar Bay games at Adepticon with Xizor (Xizor + Predator, Proton Torpedoes , Teroch + Predator and 3 Z95 Escort). He's fun but weak. Finished Trial 3:3, with better dice variance could be 4:2, maybe even 5:1 with ton of luck ;)

putting a bullseye and TL dependent upgrade on an I 4 really aren't helping matters there

Xizor jank for me would be:

Lok Revenant (43)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

Ship total: 53 Half Points: 27 Threshold: 5

Crymorah Goon (31)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

Ship total: 41 Half Points: 21 Threshold: 4

Drea Renthal (42)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)

Ship total: 46 Half Points: 23 Threshold: 4

Prince Xizor (54)
Fearless (3)
Fire-Control System (2)

Ship total: 59 Half Points: 30 Threshold: 3

Total: 199

or

Prince Xizor (54)
Fearless (3)
Fire-Control System (2)

Ship total: 59 Half Points: 30 Threshold: 3

Asajj Ventress (76)
Hate (3)
Latts Razzi (7)
Shadow Caster (6)

Ship total: 92 Half Points: 46 Threshold: 5

Cartel Executioner (44)
R5-P8 (4)

Ship total: 48 Half Points: 24 Threshold: 5

Total: 199

Xizor is I 4 and triggers hate!

After seeing those quad vipers do so well in hyperspace, I built a generic viper list of my own. I've been sitting on it for a few weeks but I finally got a few more games in with it yesterday and it has proved its worth.

Vorpal Blade (197pts)
Fenn Rau: Crack Shot
Black Sun Assassin: Crack Shot
Black Sun Assassin: Crack Shot
Captain Seevor

I really miss 1.0 Guri because she was such a great blocker, and these Black sun assassins fit that niche perfectly. They are fantastic at trapping enemy aces for Fenn (or each other) to kill, and can threaten at long range with crack shot. If Fenn or seevor are copping too much heat and have to flee, the assassins can swoop in and mop up the enemy from behind. This list is very enjoyable to fly, and it doesn't rely heavily on high-init repositioning, which I find rather boring (supernatural primed kylo, I'm looking at you).

Crack shot is an absolutely top-notch upgrade on anything that's half decent at pointing a bullseye. The best part of the upgrade is that it frequently forces aces to reposition to avoid it, which is well worth 1pt of value.

I was messing with the same pilots, but I like Predator bettter on Fenn Rau because I can usually proc it at least twice a match

Predator is my usual upgrade on Fenn, but I prefer crack in this list for the increased early game aggression (especially combined with two other crack shots) and for the extra punch it adds against jedi. It also doesn't hurt that it's a point cheaper.

came up with this squad... double shadow casters...

Ketsu Onyo (70)
Fearless (3)
Maul (11)
Shadow Caster (6)

Ship total: 90 Half Points: 45 Threshold: 5

Asajj Ventress (76)
Hate (3)

Ship total: 79 Half Points: 40 Threshold: 5

Lando Calrissian (Scum) (Escape Craft) (29)
Tactical Officer (2)

Ship total: 31 Half Points: 16 Threshold: 2

Thoughts?

Could be hard keeping L3, along side a caster as they move ****-a-fast

I really want double caster, or double YV-666 to work but I think they want something else to compliment them rather than more of the same.

If the mobile arc was 3 die then ASSAJ could set it to the side and fly in circles while ketsu chased head on. But having to large shops that want to joust is a bit tricky, imho.

Wow I just discovered you can't use the four letter world for the netherrealm from the judo-christian religion. Begins with H, rhymes with bell. How weird.

mining guild is fast and can park on rocks. might be worth a try.

I tried her this weekend and Serissu with tractor beam and crackshot is the most disgusting thing that I have seen a long while; I love her!

Here is why: she is only worth 43 points, the lowest costing/high PS cannon carrier by far. On many, many occasions during this weekend, I often had a choice: sacrifice her attack to prevent an opponent who is worth more points from attacking. On the majority of those conditions, this also meant that:

- Serissu offered her defensive bonus

- My opponent landed on a rock and got some damage from it

- My opponent landed at range 1 of my Fangs, earning a painful beating with reduced agility

- A ship that was worth more points was taken out of the fight for 1 round.

So yeah, fun times! (um.. for me, not for the ships that landed on a rock)

didn't think much of this (since it's a LONG time coming...) but S&V is in a unique position to take advantage of 2nd ed autoblasters (revealed on that livestream; can't find the image now :( )

We got scyks AND I completely forgot

Unless it is cheap it is going to be meh firing out of Krassis's aft arc. Only 2 red, 3 if range 1 before adding in Trick Shot. Maybe the crit retention will trigger more than I think on him, but I'm not banking on it.

Marauder, Marksmanship, BT-1.

Pair with a stress donor, a tractor array....
