what are scum players bringing to the table?

5pt bid or upgrades on guri?

I've usually been putting Predator on her, which would make it a three point bid.

I'm playing in the CAC today, and since it's for charity, I'm looking at giving six games away with the following:

Scum Aces

Fenn Rau (68)

Guri (63)

Talonbane Cobra (50)
Afterburners (6)
Shield (6)
Total (62)

Total build (193)

I went to my first tournament a month go with...

Fenn Rau

Guri

Old Teroch

Each with crackshot

Total build (190)

I absolutley didn't need a 10 point bid, during six games.

I plan on flying again with fearless on the Fangs and a six point bid instead.

The nice thing about your build is it's Hyperspace legal.

Yeah, it was a Hyperspace tournament but it's just the best aces I think Scum has to offer.

Also while I like T.Bane, Old T. is far more than 6 points better.

If you compare them head to head the Fang Fighter concord dawn ability more than negates T.Banes pilot ability as cancelling a hit is like removing two unmodified dice.

And Old T.'s ability also makes focus a risky action after the initial engagement.

Not to mention linked actions, the addition of boost and a mostly better dial.

Or maybe Talonbane will come down in points, I feel all Kihraxz are 1-3 points too pricy.

Makes sense. For me it was kind of a coin flip. I've beefed T-Bane up (shield and Afterburners), and I like the idea of the extra die at ranges one and three.

I also kicked around the idea of a cloaking device, but decided not to.

We'll see how T-Bane does today. Old T. is on the list of ships to fly.

Hmm, cloaking device might be better / more interesting than the shield upgrade. Coupled with afterburners, you could do all sorts.

I might try a cloaking device + afterburners Talonbane in a casual game :)

Extra info.

I just got back from an extended tournament today and saw a few Scum lists around. Didn't see every fleet or get details of many of them but the ships/pilots I saw were:

Sunny Bounder + Scyk swarm (most with Ion cannons)

Triple Scurrg's

5 Jakku Gunrunners with Dead Mans Switch and various bombs/mines

Ketsu Onyo, Talonbane Cobra and Old Teroch

This is an extended list, because I play CIS in Hyperspace. You can try it and have fun with it. Stack double focus and evade on 3 Agi Palob, copy it with Genesis Red, get rerolls from Serissu, Jam with Seevor, block with Tie. Oh and these Tractor Beams, use them!

Talonbane Cobra (50)

Serissu (40)

Ion Cannon (5)

Ship total: 45
Total: 200

So the recap from my 4 round Swiss extended...

I won one by over 20 MOV (Vader, Whisper, Soontir)

I lost one match against a Ketsu/Under/Kavil/4-LOM by four points (could have gone either way on the last dice roll I feel bad for rolling all blank blank focus and I needed only one damage against Unkar)

Then I lost by almost 50 points against a Rebel Beef list, (Wedge/Cassian/Ten Numb/Jake Farrel)

Then as one team dropped out I got a buy for the last match :(

But, the list was good.

Mistakes I made where being too keen to keep Kavil close to Serrisu, I should have been trying to get off the ion torps which I only did in one game. Talonbane did a good job but I feel like I should take locks at range 1 not focus.

Nym is fine, tanky and seismics are also nice for control.

Serrisu needds the ion cannon, her reroll did work at times but in my last game I rerolls using Serrisu about 6 times and got blank each time... :(

But it's still a reasonable squad.

Also I only used crackshot once.

So this weekend at a forty player tourney, I think I only saw a double Firespray list (Boba and Emon) apart from my Fenn/Boba/Lando list.

Weird. At Campaign Against Cancer yesterday there was a ton of scum, possibly even the most populous faction. 34 players and at least 6 Scum lists I personally know of, though I didn’t see all.

I played on the day

3 named Fangs

5x RZ-2

5x TIE/sf

Jakku, Zuvio, Han, Drone with Vizago/ cloak, Jabba cargo chutes and proxy mine shenanigans

Rebel beef (Dutch Y style)

Vermeil w/ Vader, Rexler, Sabaac

i also saw 5x khirax, Han Fenn Dengar, Dengar 4 Lom and something, Han L3 and stuff (I think tugs were involved). Honestly they and Rebels were heavy in the field, and the three Fangs took second. I’m also pretty sure there was more scum im not certain of, because I believe there was at least one other person flying multiple Fangs. But I may be wrong. And at least one Boba, from talking to a friend who faced them, but I never saw it myself.

No Separatists or Republic that I recall. Lots of Rebel beef, including one with 4 Uwings.

Ain't doing it yet for obvious reasons, but I'm really looking forwards to Sept. (and hopeful for Dec Upgrade Card packs).

Tansarii Point Veteran + Snap Shot and Autoblasters. Hopefully able to fit x5. :D

Ran into a Dengar, Torani, Seevor, and Jostero list at CAC.

Seevor is kind of a punk when he gets swarm tactics up to a 6. Reminds me of HotCop Fenn or a Rex in Fair Ship Rebels.

For a store tourney yesterday, the boy last minute decided on this.

(68) Fenn Rau [Fang Fighter] (3) Swarm Tactics. Points: 71

(63) Guri [StarViper-class Attack Platform] (10) Advanced Sensors (3) Daredevil. Points: 75

(44) Zealous Recruit [Fang Fighter] Points: 44

Total points: 191

I was honestly kinda scared but it worked very well.

With Swarm allowing the Recruit to soften a target for Fenn on the 1st/2nd engage, it packs an unavoidable punch. People go for Fangs to try and ice them early, which helps get the engagement you're looking for.

Daredevil is ridiculous fun but didn't actually come up much, and doesn't add a whole lot to Guri's options when you actually get into it. We'll likely go Predator there. Would like Outmanoeuvre but prefer the 10pt bid.

I played this for the Nordics System Open on Saturday:

4-LOM (49)
Crack Shot (1)
Advanced Sensors (10)
Mist Hunter (2)
Jamming Beam (0)

Black Sun Assassin (48)
Crack Shot (1)

Black Sun Assassin (48)
Crack Shot (1)

Unkar Plutt (33)
Pattern Analyzer (5)
Deadman’s Switch (2)
Total: 200

Went 2-4. Managed to win against a Fenn + 3 Fangs list (killing Fenn and losing nothing), pulled another win on final salvo vs a Vader Soontir Vynder list (traded 4-LOM for Vynder). 2 other games were very narrow losses. My first game of the day was a major loss because I played badly and the other big loss was a combination of not great choices and very very bad dice throughout - but was somehow the most entertaining game with a lone Unkar just trolling my opponent in the endgame!

At the end of the day my brain was fried but I had a ton of fun playing the list. In the hands of a better player it could possibly do quite well.

How often did Dengar proc his special that game? I just tried a hybrid of this list and a Seevor/Outer Rim Pioneer list I've been fiddling with. Dengar's terrible dial made him easy to arc dodge by all enemies, regardless of Initiative.

I didn't trigger it personally, but that's because I was running an aces list that couldn't afford the trade with Painbot active.

That said, the list had plenty of arcs that were hard to dodge.

posted this previously in Squad List forums but am reposting this here. I'm considering this squad for a small local event this wknd...

Cobra Kai Squad

Asajj Ventress (76)

Heightened Perception (3)
Shadow Caster (6)

Zealous Recruit (44)

Fenn Rau (68)
Swarm Tactics (3)

Total: 200

this squad has a chance to initiative kill a select target if u can get 3 shots coordinated 'Strike first, strike fast, show no mercy!' If Asajj gets in a hit first, the tractor token will set up fenn and recruit for a the followup killing attack. At least in paper ;)

Fenn and Recruit can flank from one wing and Asajj can draw enemy fire and use her force to soak up some early damage while Fenn & Recruit set up their approach.

thoughts?

Init 7/6/5 for attacks still possible with HP on Asajj which sets up the tractor token for TB's and Fenn's followup shots.

Seems decent. With 29 hull/shields behind two agility, it's fairly tough, and 3x3 attack dice plus possible Dengar bonus shot isn't too bad for offence either.

My opponent was flying a janky list (Ello Asty with Tractor Beam and a bunch of Resistance Transports with Ion Cannon, R4, Pattern Analyzer and Hull Upgrade), so although I won I'm not sure how my list would perform against something a bit more straightforward. It was a bit of a bad matchup for my opponent - the Firesprays' back arcs gave his transports a lot of trouble. It made it difficult for him to avoid something getting shot even when he ionized one, and as soon as a Firespray got past the transports, they struggled to turn around while the FS could still shoot. Also that much hull and shields is a lot to chew through with ion cannons.
