This may be a basic question but how do docked ships interact with the main ship when docked?

van the main ship makes us of the docked ships crew, or force tokens etc?

Unless a card specifies otherwise, docked ships have no impact on the game board at all.

So for example let’s say Leia is on board the docked ship, would I not be able to use her ability unless the ship undocked?

Correct. Docked ships are not in play, their abilities are only usable if they specifically work whilst docked.

Rules Reference pg 16

Quote

* A ship that is docked is placed in reserve .

* The abilities of a ship in reserve are inactive unless the ability explicitly allows it to be used while it is in reserve.
