So I have played Station Assult several times, but I have never known what to do with a destroyed station; is it removed from play or just left in the play area and does not give its benefits, but still obstructs attacks?

They remain in the play area, and continue to work as before.

Strange, but that's it.

That’s what the Corellian Conflict rulebook says to do.

Leave it on the play area, but it no longer performs healing.

Just pretend it's the wreck of the station now providing obstruction...
