why ffg?

By bobafett1228, in X-Wing

Why is the rebel alliance so bad? Yes they had some nasty builds in first edition, but I thought second edition was made to balance things out... It seems I am wrong. 😥

no offense ffg

What are you talking about? Rebels are in a really good shape. Fat Han, Y-wing spam.. Wedge+Thane+Jake+Dutch, Leia is quite broken for her price.

They are one of the strongest, if not THE strongest faction in the game

You are joking, right? A phenomenal player just won the biggest xwing event ever with rebels in rather convincing fashion.

That, and the most common faction in hyperspace trial cuts is rebels ...

that's the problem they have leia, fat han that stuff is broken.

it's bad (a-wings, hwk-290) or its op (fat han, leia)

Well, after that little switcheroo I can't take this topic seriously any more...

I'm so confused. How can a faction be taking most of the top cuts in tourneys and still be weak? Leia is under costed, no arguments there, but Fat Han builds require smart flying to not just explode like most large ships do these days. A-wings have their uses and the HWK's can still do some work, especially Jan.

fat han can be in 8 different places by just dialing in a 4-straight. you can't predict 8 different places for 1 ship

at least I can't.

Even thin and/or hyperspace Han is pretty good.

Wedge Antilles + Servomotor S-foils
Luke Skywalker + Servomotor S-foils
Han Solo + Trick Shot + Lando Calrissian

Made top 8 out of 67 people.

For real? I haven't been playing long but rebels have been solid contenders.

While I agree not every Rebel ship is a knock out, that’s true of every faction. It’ll change as time goes on as new things are released and old stuff gets adjusted. If what you like isn’t up to snuff, it can be frustrating, but the Rebel faction as a whole is doing pretty good right now.

Take a look at what is winning and doing well in some of the larger events. Rebels are in good shape. You could even argue they are the strongest faction right now. Rebel players are spoiled for choice with pilots. Luke, Wedge, Han already mentioned here. 4 ship rebel lists virtually build themselves. XXYU, BBUU, XBYU... pick any 4 you like. YYYYY is another way to go. Then you can go with Han Falcon teamed up with 1-2 aces. Ur hardest task is probably getting good enough with rebels to beat other rebel lists ;)

I guess I was wrong, and I am just having trouble liking the rebels, and finding good lists to fly. thanks for changing my mind 🙂

Rebels are wide open for play right now. Lots of spicy options.

It may not be the most potent squadron out there, but my Rebel list is one of my favorite lists to fly so far in Second Edition!

They are diverse lists and fun to fly. When I get some more practice I will probably be using the second one more often than the first one.

You've never played against Echo, have you?

What sorts of lists have you been trying?

It could be that you're stuck in a 1.0 mindset and trying to re-create 1.0 builds, maybe.

things like this or like this are what I commonly fly. ( I don't have a u-wing. )

Have you checked that you have updated your app with the first points update?

I see you are a man of culture as well, Arvel Crynyd is a marvellous thing to place on the board.

Have you considered pairing him with a Ion&VTG Horton Salm? It is rather effective.

you don't have to be in 8 places. you block the 4 forward and the 1 forward. congrats, you just blocked everything but the hard stop, and you're now at range one of han.

So han just does the 4 forward, doesn't get shot by the 4 forward block ship or the 1 forward block ship. What valuable shots are going at Han then that does meaningful damage since that 4 forward if dialed in likely still gives him a range 1 to a rock for mods? Also, it's more likely Han is actually doing a 3 bank or 3 turn (potentially either direction) in most games.
