Fined tuned Jedi

By Darth Darxide, in X-Wing Rules Questions

After completing any maneuver (excluding red?) I can spend a force charge to perform a boost or barrel roll action.

If either of those actions fail, can i still perform a regular action?

I want to make sure that I’m playing these Jedi correctly.

Yes, if you fully complete a maneuver you can spend a force token to perform a "bonus" boost or barrel roll action.
keep in mind that this happens after the check for stress step, so if you did a red maneuver you wont be able to spend the token to do this bonus action.
An exception to this would be R4-P17 or any similar upgrade that would allow you to do actions even when stressed.

This is a "bonus" action (used to be called free action in 1.0) granted by other game affects and as such, you still have your regular action from your perform action step.
Keep in mind, you cannot perform the same boost or barrel roll action you did by spending a token again during your action step.
Even if you overlapped an obstacle but were able to complete your maneuver (that usually means, you did not overlap a ship too), you can still spend the token to do the bonus action granted by the Jedi effect, but you lose your regular action because you overlapped an obstacle. Still pretty usefull though because if you are able to barrel roll or boost off the obstacle you get to attack during combat.

Yes. The action the ability allows is in addition to the normal action you get during the perform action step. Though you won't be able to perform the action you already failed that turn.

Thanks for the replies šŸ‘šŸ¼ šŸ‘šŸ¼

so anakin can do a red maneuver, get stressed, use his ability and spend a force to clear the stress, then use fine tuned and spend another force to do a boost/roll as a bonus action, then take a lock/focus action?

Yes.

To make it even stinkier, Supernatural Reflexes Anakin can spend a force to reposition, then execute a maneuver, then spend another force to remove stress, THEN spend a third force to Fine Tuned Controls another reposition, and STILL get to perform a regular action for the turn...

And add p17 too...

Afterburners has the same trigger, too. So Anakin can Afterburners after a red move, still stressed, land in range 1 or bullseye to trigger his stress removing ability. Yeah?

Correct. He could even equip P17, and get 4 actions in the round he does a K turn, potentially. Or three, two of which a repositions whilst stressed.

Ahhh but can one use fine tuned controls after an ion maneuver?

Yes. You fully executed a manoeuvre and it is not your Perform Action step yet so you can still perform other actions than focus.

Huh.
