It seems like on the unit they are attached to, it would just be better to get the extra troops, but for keeping expensive characters like vader or fett alive they could be super handy. What are your thoughts?
Medical Droids: Worth it?

They’re effectively worth 3 hit points, but no commensurate damage. Probably best placed on a unit with a heavy weapon that’s worth protecting, but which runs alongside your most expensive (most expensive per hit point) trooper unit to restore damage they suffer.
I agree, ideal Imperial choices to support would seem to be Vader, the Emperor, Boba Fett, or perhaps fully kitted Death Troopers.
The Rebels have fewer units with great defense, but the best candidates likely are Luke or Han, possibly even Jyn or Pathfinders.
Chewbacca and Wookies defense is sufficiently bad that they probably aren’t worth using a charge on, similarly the offense granted by Rebel units is typically more than their Imperial counterparts, so it’s more of an opportunity cost to switch from an extra trooper to a medic.
One good use might be to protect a Generic Officer commander, especially when the enemy has a bounty hunter in play.
Edited by DerraultI use med droids to protect either Palpatine or Boba Fett since this basically increases their health from 5 to 7 and for the best defending units in the game, that is a tremendous help since each of their health points is worth a lot. this frees me up to use them easier and not be too scared to let them out in the open in line of sight of a few too many units. extremely effective in my games Fett has yet to die under my control with a med droid helping him.
And the way i see it each of say Boba Fetts hit points is worth 28 points (140 divided by 5) while the med droid only costs 19 points effectively healing 56 pts for 19 points. good deal for me. For Palpatine that's 84 pts healed for the 19 pts of the med droid! however, the same thing applies to say healing rebel troopers in which you're only saving 20 pts for 18 pts not really worth it. Then the wookies are only 8 pts per wound so healing them twice isn't even worth the cost of the med droid itself. Of course this isn't `100% accurate since the med droid is also a hit point for the unit it's attached to
Edited by bllawThey are also good to bring back snipers that may be lost to Leia and Veers orbital strikes early on. In the long run, yes you lose some firepower, but as long as you get 2 uses out of them, they pay for themselves by bringing back more than they cost to add them to the squad.

Wait if the unit is completely dead from an orbital strike you're able too bring them back with the med droid? or do you just mean part of the sniper team?

Yeah I think hes referring to when you 'corner peek' with just the sniper rifle and leave the other guy out of LoS. Then Leia or Veers kills the visible guy
keep in mind that if the unit the medic is on also has a heavy weapon, the heavy weapon will die earlier than usual because it dies before the med droid compared to an additional trooper mini.
they are big at keeping deathtroopers alive!

This. Maybe Boba will be far from the medical droid but it is so easy to keep the deathtroopers near a unit of stormies with DLT and medical droid.

I agree and have yet to field one in a Rebels army, but if you could bring back that 3rd or 4th Wookiee Warrior just before they get into melee, it might be worth the extra 2 black attack dice or keep Chewie alive with one more wound before he dies or postpone his emergency stims. very situational.
Ive used them in han lists to make Good use of the reckless diversion card.
They get to shoot at my heavy cover han with uncanny luck that I can heal later. Chewie can give him a Dodge token IF you give chewie the second order token.
I also like them with rebel commandos. 94 points for a 5 man squad with sniper and Hunter. They do nice damage, but are just as fragile as normal troopers. Medical droid gives em 2 extra hp.

I've considered playing a medical droid or 2 in my lists with the Pathfinders, since they're small squads with a lot of firepower, healing 2 of those minis seems like a strong play. But I've yet to do so lol
Question: If I use Emergency Stims to delay wounds on a unit, can I use a Medic Droid to heal those wounds before they're applied to the unit (and take models off the table)?

No. You cannot heal the wounds as long as they are on the card. You have to wait until they are applied to the unit before you can heal them.
