New Ship from Mandalorian

By Scum4Life, in X-Wing

So the main characters ship in the Mandalorian has been revealed and named the Razorcrest. It looks almost identical to a lot of art of the SS-54 Gunship, used in starwars comics, encyclopedias and multiple episodes of the Clone Wars.

This ship was also owned by a bounty hunter called Sugi and her nice (if I recall correctly)

Will we be getting this for the Scum faction?

Juicy pics below.

Not even close to identical. Razorcrest has a longer & fuller "V" hull, different cockpit (SS-54's is an airliner cockpit), non-rotating engines, thicker wings, and tripod landing struts linked to spread points on the ship's structure (SS-54 has 5 struts, 4 of which are paired in to 2 link for a total of 3 hull mounts, all 3 of which are at the back of the cargo compartment). The Razorcrest is not an SS-54 and it is extremely unlikely, looking at the 2 ships, that they are from the same series of ships.

I don’t think it’s a SS-54, but I definitely expect to see it in the future. Pilots will probably be provided by the show, maybe get some in other material if their are books/comic books about the Mandalorian, or the ship type takes off.

Based on just the look, I wouldn’t be surprised if it has similarities with the G-1a, including medium base.

Unfortunately I think I agree, I was all caught up on the engine placement and my past enthusiasm to see the the SS-54 in Xwing.

But this is secretly good news, now we have two ships that scum could get in the future 😁

Completely understandable. :) I'm looking forwards to both.

If it's the main character's ship, we can be pretty sure it will show up in the game at some point in time.

It’s like a baby SS-54.

To me it looks very reminiscent of a wookie gunship.

Perhaps the dial should be similar to the auzituck, but lacks the stop and gains a 4k. A hair more maneuverable to compensate for the lack of 180 degree firing arc.

To me the guns on the side look like heavy duty cannons, so it seems likely to have a cannon slot.

Just for the love of god don't make it a Mist Hunter clone, please keep this game to 1 B-wing dial per faction.

I hope we get it AND SS-54!

I suspect though it will actually be by the same manufacturer of the Laat whenever something official emerges.

I think it resembles a older maybe original version of the Auzituck before being wookiefied during the rebellion period. Given the lack of info and I plan to use this ship on Kashyyyk. Perhaps in a ruined old republic Appazanna Engineering Works in a upcoming game.

LAAT was Rothana Heavy Engineering, a subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards. The Razorcrest definitely has the aesthetic lines of a kuati design (LAAT and Firespray being 2 prime examples). :)

I’m looking forward to another Scum ship that I can use. I’m sure it’ll be in wave 7 or more likely wave 8 since it will be enough time for ffg to have seen releases content and not be stuck with “blue ace” type nonsense.

I second that, a new Scum ship is always a nice addition. And seeing how ffg has released previous expansions to coincide with releases of the sequels, I wouldn't be surprised if they release this one not long after the series debut :)

What niche will this ship fill?

Galactic Republic needs a Large-based ship before anyone else. I'd like to see the Naboo transport from Episode 1.

Seriously doubt we'll see that, maybe in Epic. More likely would be one of the shuttles. The Nu-class or Theta-class 2c seem to make the most sense as they're just a bit smaller than a Lambda-class. There's also the Eta-class, which would be interesting because it could include upgrades for the executive shuttle that Sheev used, but it's considerably smaller.

And of course, there's also the LAAT.

In XWTMG? Would have to be as a crew carrier. But Scum isn't exactly lacking there, right? Hard to say. Maybe it's got useful systems that would make sense for jamming? I'm really not sure.

I really want the Halo, so I'm actually kind of sad that it isn't the same ship. If it was, that would be an easy expansion pack for FFG, I'd think.

I think there is a new official tie fighter in the series too. The Outland Tie Fighter

The silver ship they have to get spare parts for on Tatooine? It didn't strike me as being any bigger than the Falcon. *heads off to look up ship stats*

EDIT: Twice as long as the Falcon (at least it's listed as that long, it didn't look too big when Qui-Gon Jinn was jumping into it). I can see your reasoning.

Though perhaps not as iconic, one of its successors might actually be a better fit, as it had more function alongside the N-1s. The J-Type Diplomatic Barge

However, the J-type star skiff might fit better as a large ship with that type of look.

I'm terrified of how they'd manage to do the chrome, though. I have lots of memories of flaky Transformers with a chrome look. Hopefully they've improved on how to do that since the 80s/90s.

LAAT Gunship anyone? :) They had a lot of variants (troop transport, assault carrier, ARC refit and such), which opens up some Configuration options :)

I worry whether it'd have hardpoints on every side though, as they did in the canon. While a fun idea, I really want the devs to avoid bringing 360 firing arcs again, even if the tail gun was to have 1 Attack stat.

Icon arc full front

That would be neat, but I meant that apart from frontal cannons (which did cover an area akin to 180 degrees) and frontal missile launchers, but they also had side turrets (with another potential 180 degree arc) and one small rear turret, basically giving them 360 firepower.

However, I think a similar problem was encountered with Resistance bombers which also could cover 360 area. I guess the devs will do something similar here, a wider frontal arc and possibly a double turret. While it might not be that accurate lore-wise, it is not as important as balanced gameplay I would say, and I'd hate to see the flames that would ensue should a 360 firing arc return in any form.
