Double stress?

By Darth Darxide, in X-Wing Rules Questions

When a red action or red maneuver is granted β€œeven while stressed” do you gain another stress to become double stressed?

Yes

There are no limits to the number of stress or strain tokens a ship can have, and any token after the first has very limited effect on the game since most effects only consider whether you are stressed or strained, not how many tokens you have.

Aside a few niche cases (like primed thrusters) it only really effects how long it will take to burn the tokens off again as blue moves remove them one-by-one (basically boiling down to multiple turns without actions or at reduced agility).

it's worth mentioning the obvious as well. one stress is normally fine, but can make you predictable, since actions are extremely valuable and action economy is super important, you can count on a stressed ship trying a blue maneuver in 95% of cases.

having more than one stress is very undesireable to say the very least, since it will not let you take any actions during the next round of play even if you perform a blue maneuver. many consider panicked pilot to be one of the most brutal critical damage cards to receive for this reason.

Thanks again πŸ‘πŸΌ

Hihihi, 95% you say?

Count on me NOT doing it β€” and being coordinated by AP-5 (Sheathipede).....

running ap-5 of course increases the likelyhood of someone doing a white maneuver while being stressed significantly. sometimes it's really good to to do something just because it's unexpected as well. not very often, though.

there are also ships that just have many and /or good options when it comes to blue maneuvers. tie advanced prototype, shadow caster, fang fighter, a-wing and tie interceptor just to name a few.

blue turns are a pretty premium quality for a ship to have.
