Given the Fire Support options that are showing up it feels like quite the opposite.
Saber Throw is going to be an auto-include for all Jedi... 🤣

I was thinking about this myself. I guess it depends on if the Fire support on the Imperial detachment can be used with anyone (probably) or if it's limited to working with another unit (such as shoretroopers only).
I'm still hoping that Force Guidance is a free action to gain a surge token.
I'm not entirely convinced Saber Throw is an auto-include for all Jedi yet.
It certainly works for Vader where he won't lose an action for attacking, but I feel like Obi-Wan may want to take moves, evades or (if you're feeling crazy) stand-by's.
I'm still waiting to see what the new Force powers will be, and with CW on the way there'll be plenty to explore

Well I've been working hard to make Vader viable without Saber Throw, but the benefit of Fire Support is so good when coupled with a Jedi's natural Pierce that it makes me toss that idea out the window.
I suspect all the Clones being able to Fire Support Obi-Wan when wants it (and him lacking natural range and having a couple crummy white dice so you are really only giving up one black) make it very tempting for him.

Oof!
I cant imagine how hard it must be to use Vader without saber throw. A lot of people say that the emperor is just straight better than Vader, but if you take saber throw into account and relentless, vader has a lot more flexibility in ranged attacking.
I'm excited to have fire support on mortars assisting Vader's saber throw. He could use the Critical keyword to get around cover and the suppressive keyword stacks well with Master of Evil

Saber Throw is was overrated IMO. Solid against armor or units out of cover, but if Vader is being effective I use it twice a game at most. In those cases it's often okay just to hide instead. So if a juicy new Force power came along...
It's okay I guess... a juicy dollop of Suppresive fire support seems like a real good consolation prize.

The problem with that way of thinking is that even though it may only see two uses, it's still two rounds that you couldn't hit something in melee. Optimistically Vader can only get 3 rounds of melee attacks in unless he's rushed so any additional method of attacks for him are going to be a benefit, especially when it's a 10 point upgrade.
At the top of my wish list for force power upgrades is Force Speed.
I could see that helping Vader out, plus it would be like the old battlefront games where Vader just walks around but can float forward super fast for short bursts to do his charge attack
I think the main thing that will help him is new dark side only powers. Here's an idea:
Sith Training
Dark Side Only
When you are attacked, gain one surge token
When you spend surge tokens on an attack, convert the <surge> symbol to a <critical> symbol
Wouldn't help Luke or Palpatine. I could see something like this coming out with Dooku, the other Sith apprentice

Yeah Force Speed would help too many other Force Users, but some kinda Surge access for Vader would be lovely!

We have Anger from the Palpatine expansion, what's wrong with that?
If we're looking for a 'Force Speed' effect for Dark Side, how about:
Surge of Hatred
Dark Side Only
Choose an enemy unit at Range 1. You are now engaged with that unit.

I really hope that's exhaust! Basically it would achieve the same effect as force push but with a little less flexibility.
As far as 'Sith Training' goes, remember surge tokens can be spent on defense as well as attacks. Anger is only really good on Palpatine because it combos with his 1 pip. If you get shot after you activate it's useless.

Fair point to both paragraphs.
With Sith Training, I'm having trouble seeing as a Dark Side exclusive as it can be used on both offence and defence. Surge conversion sounds handy, but it sounds like a fairly neutral ability, whilst 'Dark Side' powers seem to be more risk/reward.
What about a Force Power that allows you to spend a wound to increase your speed by one for a turn/move (limit once per turn)?
It helps Vader move up the field, but keeps his theme of power coming at a cost.

That's not bad. I think it would need to be the whole turn to make it worth it. You would only use it like once or twice a game during clutch turns, but you could run it in lieu of saber throw to make Vader into a melee powerhouse
Make it: Take one wound, gain Speed 2, then you don't boost other Jedi~
Vader yes, all jedi no

I was thinking the power would be Dark Side Only, but giving it exhaust as well may be a good idea.
It would mean, for instance, that a hypothetical future Inquisitor expansion could use it, but they might not need the mobility as much nor have access to Master of the Force.
Still too much?

Fair call, I like that too ![]()
Vader will always take Saber Throw unless there's another Force Power that gives him a ranged attack to take advantage of his FREE attack after moving.
