Ruling question

By StriderZessei, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I've been looking around in the FAQ, and asked around the subreddit, but couldn't get a satisfactory answer to my question:

If a character is using a weapon or gear that grants automatic advantage or success (ex.: Superior), do those inherent advantage/success get doubled by the Gambler's Double or Nothing ability?

I argue they would, as they are added to the check as soon as the dice are rolled, and can decide between the roll being successful or not, and the DoN talent triggers after the roll is resolved. That being said, I'm not a brilliant man, and would appreciate being set straight if I'm off-base.

I would say yes. Double or Nothing goes off AFTER canceling opposing symbols and the bonus Advantage would have been counted in that process.

Yeah, I'd say an automatic advantage or threat would also get doubled by the talent, for the reasons cited that they are added to the initial results of the roll before you start canceling out symbols.

Thanks! One note: threats aren't ever doubled by DoN.

But I digress; for the sake of the most absolute clarity, the order would go:

1. Roll dice

2. Add any automatic perks given by weapon qualities, gear, etc.

3. Cancel results as normal, and determine final results

4. DoN triggers and doubles advantage, success, triumphs and despairs (with improved and supreme talents purchased, obv.)

5. Any talents or qualities that trigger after a result is finalized are not doubled (weapon qualities on a second weapon being dual wielded, or qualities that only trigger on a successful hit, like Curved Hilt.)

Right?
