where are you seeing the full names?

Many of the card names are partially covered.

Mostly by looking at other spreads, matching art, and looking at the more clear celebration image spreads for the Geonosian starfighter and the Y-Wing.

For the N1, we outright see Daredevil on top of the spread, followed by the art of Collision Detector, with most of the name for that being visible so we can confirm that, followed by Passive Sensors which I believe was spoiled somewhere likely a Polish leak, followed by a torpedo upgrade that shares that art from 1st edition's Plasma Torpedo so likely we are seeing it again, then for the first Astromech we see A6 looking into the astromech with that name from episode 1 and the fact we know the art is of a green R2 droid we can figure out its name is R2-A6, R2-CR is spoiled in the article, and the last card is R2 astromch, which we've seen before.

For the Y-Wing, we can make out Snap Shot, the next card is a bit of a mystery but we see it gives you an attack with the ordinance icon on it so likely a torpedo upgrade considering what the Y-Wing could be equipped with, next up was a card that could be seen a bit better from the Celebration image which clearly says 'ntive Reflexes' and requires a force to be spent hence a force upgrade and with the name likely Instinctive makes sense, we've seen ion cannon turret before, next up is clearly 3PO, next is a card which we can make out 'Tano' from and considering her role in Anakin's Y-Wing it makes sense it is Ahsoka Tano and she is a gunner upgrade, you can then make out '10P' on the next card and looking at the art and knowing Chopper's backstory it being Chopper is pretty obvious and a nice bit of fluff, then we have the proton bomb. Lastly the Y-Wing has 2 'unknown' upgrade cards. The first will likely be Electro Proton Bomb as the Hyena comes with a new Torp upgrade that seems to have it in its art and we don't see that art in the Y-Wing's spread and then the last card is a modification since we see the back of a modification card.

Republic R4-P's have the same domed head as an R2 though. Not saying it isn't R2-A6 just pointing out a slight flaw in the reasoning.

R4-P Astromech •R4-P17 •R4-P44 R2 Astromech •R2-D2

Fair, however all of the astromechs with any association with the N1 were R2 astromechs. And considering that R2-A6 was not just associated with the ship but Ric Ollie's astromech as well makes it seem all the more likely.

We already know one of the mechs in the N1 is the one that lets you spend evades as calculates on the offence.

Maybe it is R5-U8? A green R5 unit that served in a Y-wing?

If you mean the N1 we know the art is the image below, and that the last 2 digits of his name are A6.

So R2-A6, makes sense based off that, and it flew in a N1 at the Battle of Naboo.

If you mean the Y-Wing, the art in the spread is the image below. You can make the 10P out on the name, and the head very much seems to be orange with a yellow stripe. You can even sort of make out the one arm on the main body of the in the art below the head.

I'll be pretty curious to see what kind of ability Chopper will bring to the Republic.

Domed head for droids was never R2-type exclusive feature though. R3s were premium versions of R2s with domed heads (usually transparent), and pretty sure R7s and later models stuck with domes, excepting some units packaged in R4 or was it R5 shells.

Incidentally the Jedi used customized R4s with R2 style heads,.

This all in old expanded universe, AFAIK new one hasn't really gone into details of the R-series.

I'd like to see non-faction locked generic C series "astromechs" period.

You know, given that Chopper has... cat-like personality, i wonder if that could be the same with all C-series astromechs?

If so, their abilities could be built around rolling dice, in that you get what you wanted but there's a chance of a drawback... Then again, that's already used for R2-D2 crew and Novice Technician so it might not be terribly interesting to repeat the same trick.

EDIT Or do something like what Chopper does...

You're arguing for the exact point I was making, that the domed head does not always mean R2 unit. Canon doesn't have the same visual distinctions between R series subtypes that Legends did. That aside, the astro @Animewarsdude is pointing out still could be called R2-A6...

So i am, it seems. Didn't read your post too accurately...

As for the Naboo fighter droid... it is actually R2-A6.

Someone found a bigger image sometime ago and added a lot of details to the wiki, including that the droid's R2-A6:

I'm going to hold judgement on this one till we see what his Republic ability is. Rebel Chopper astro's ability would be pretty hard to tweak for a generic C series.

I was thinking similar style. Do something bad to get something good, but applied to different things. Drain shield to gain Target Lock. Ionize yourself to regen one shield. Drain shield to get rid of Ion token. Stuff like that (and no comment on whether any of my examples are good ideas).

Chopper doesn't come off as you see him to me, but more as a system balancer. I can see something along the lines of what you describe for a generic though.

Well, generics and named ones being different makes sense.

I think i was channeling a bit of how i perceive Chopper in Rebels here though. I mean, he is kind of a ****... causing ship to get "ionized" because someone told him to repair shield generator rudely seems something he'd do.

I'd love to see that, and considering that Resistance has an astro that looks similar to a T-Series astro it would be cool to see that as a generic option too.

I've sort of played with the head canon idea that the T-Series, like T3-M4 and later T7-O1, were the main original astromech line but due to popularity of the R series and likely some deals the main astromech socket in ships were built with the R-Series in mind so the T-Series lost ground and prominence which led to R-Series knock offs like the C-Series and the Lothal astromech series. Then this trend stayed true for the OT due to the contracts in place during the Empire, but with the fall of the empire and Incom creating the T-70 with a universal astromech socket it led to other brands getting a chance to compete with the R-Series so we see a greater variety of astromechs start up like the resurgences of the T-Series and the creation of the BB-Series.

I can see that. Thankfully Canon dumped the Q series, at least it did from what I could tell.

And they won't be missed, haha.

But the moral of the story, FFG give us more astromechs. Especially for the Rebels considering they lack named astromechs compared to Resistance and soon the Republic. I'd also really like to see R6 astromechs being added to Resistance, since they are in the new films, and R7s to be added to the Rebellion since they have the E-Wing. Or you know, make them generic or like Palpatine make them Resistance or Rebel only.

I'll raise yah, Scum's ONLY named astromechs:

•R5-P8 •R5-TK •“Genius”

Guess how many actually have a reasonable use...
