...and I got my wish.

Tournament Format
All officially sanctioned tournaments for
Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game will use
the following format:

-Swiss Format
-50 minute rounds
-Best 2 out of 3 games

Thank you.

PS. I also noticed that it said only The Card Game. Official change or overlooked typo? If its the former make that two suggestions/wishes granted.

PPS. Didn't have a lot of time to look over the whole document and was just skimming through, but I think its missing something. Where is the "How to conclude a match after time has run out" section? When I have more time I'll make some suggestions for that as well if it is indeed missing, but for now...gotta run.

I've been running CoC as best of 3 since I first started running tournaments back under the old CCG. Interesting that FFG have decided to add it now.

This bit is interesting, if unenforceable:

Players must maintain a pace to allow the match to be finished within the announced time limit.

I don't think I fully understand it, but it was maintained, no match would ever hit the time limit. If a match ran out on time, that would mena the players did not maintain the appropriate pace,

????

Yeah, to avoid problems it may come down to some kind of understood house rule "after so many minutes, if a player isnt doing anything...." This at leasts attempts to quantify the stall technique some players start using when their ahead in points and time starts running out.

or Just make a timed win not as good as a flat out win.

Concerning the use of "The Card Game", I assume that means cards from CCG and LCG can be used? Would that include those promo cards too?

And waht happens if players reach the time limit?

Are draws allowed? head or tail?

Clearly, I have played since arkham editions, I play cthulhu every week, I have never seen players in my area play 3 games in 50 minutes. I doesn't sound very realistic to me.

Agreed. Although I like the idea of best of 3, to finish 2 or 3 games in 50 minutes is going to be difficult many times.

The question of reaching the time limit is interesting. As I pointed out, the tournament rules tell us that you can be kicked out if you are not playing at a pace that allows the match to be finished within the allowed time. I think that is ridiculous - there are so many factors in a game that can change the duration regardless of the pace of play.

I think they are going to have to introduce some rule.

Some guys from this forum was to FFG center for the cthulhu's tournament ? No reports about the games and factions played ?

What was the rules at the end of the time limit if you won only one game and can't finish a second one ? A tie or a win for the winner of the first game ?

The problem is the tournament rules do not provide any information on how to establish victory while the limit limit is reached ...

What happens if the First game was won by the first player and 2 game was won with Time limit (1 story to 0) by the second player ... ??? Draw ??

We're actually proposing a new counting system for the Tlimit, in a way to give more points to the player who owned a "regular" victory, compared to the TL's game winner, as the tournament rules do not provide enough information
