Just started playing

By Rorix904, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I just started playing this game and I find it alot of fun but all the ppl I play with have been playing since it came out and I'm always falling a bit short on making a squad if anyone can help me figure out a good group with what I own(which I will add a list of what I own) that would be awesome.

I have the core set, x wing expansion, y wing expansion, rebel convention kit and picked up 2 additional y wing models 3 a wings 2 b wings and a yt-1300...

Thanks again for any help

You could do this:

Wedge Antilles (52)
Swarm Tactics (3)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Ship total: 55 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 3

Biggs Darklighter (48)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Ship total: 48 Half Points: 24 Threshold: 3

"Dutch" Vander (39)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

Ship total: 49 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 4

Gold Squadron Veteran (33)
Selfless (3)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

Ship total: 46 Half Points: 23 Threshold: 4
Total: 198

Biggs and Goldie spread damage, keep Wedge going.

Dutch provides TLs.

Wedge lets you get to shots off at I6.

Double tap with the Ys.

2pts left over for a little spice wherever you want it.

Fly in formation and point at a ship!

Learn how to fly with precision as much as you can. put all asteroids on the board and try not to hit them. learn block, pinwheel & 4 finger and other formations to get a feel of how to fly ships in formation (look at some older version 1 x-wing advice online). I used to just spread my ships evenly across my side of the table, now they deploy in a loose/tight formation if needed. Watch podcasts of other games on youtube like gold squadron podcast.

I would suggest as practice to fly ALL of your ships WITHOUT upgrades at home. And just get a feeling of how to fly your ships and get used to their dials and how to maneuver and not crash into obstacles. Then figure out how to create killboxes & map domination. Then once you are comfortable then you can start adding upgrades that compliment the ships within your squad. Just adding upgrades to a ship without knowing how the upgrade will impact your squad just to get points is a trap that I fell into. Then try some upgrades/pilot combos and see what works. Sometimes you may find a pilot/upgrade that has a benefit that you may not utilize, so you may want to consider not using that pilot/upgrade. The combination of pilots/upgrades is so rich that you can find something that fits, some people just fly their pilots that they know very well, but change the upgrades when they need to.

Have fun and do not get discouraged, this is a fun game.

3 y, 2x, 3a, 2b...yt-1300...

y: dutch, norra

x: luke, wedge, biggs

b: braylen

yt: Han

You have a ton of options here. start flying them and see what happens. Hold off on flying the yt-1300 until you figure out how to fly your other ships. Large base ships take some time to figure out how to fly with the rest of your small base squad...

I would keep things simple until you master ship maneuvers or you might get confused with all of the upgrades and pilot abilities. I would recommend Red Squadron Veteran (T-65 X-Wing), Gold Squadron Veteran (Y-Wing), Blade Squadron Veteran (B-Wing), and 2 Green Squadron Pilots (RZ-1 A-Wing). Keep the X-Wing, Y-Wing, and B-Wing together to learn formation flying. The two A-Wings can be on the flanks so you can learn how to maneuver ships behind opponent formations. Master these ships then upgrade the pilots and later give them upgrades.

I don't want to sound negative, but there is quite a learning curve to this game, don't give up, everything is a chance to learn and be better.
